OXCGN’s Mass Effect 3 Review- Top endgame or sunk by ending?

OXCGN:

"The world is ablaze with Mass Effect 3.

OXCGN chose to wait out the storm of ‘ending rage’ to release a review, but in a different form.

I’m going to try something a little unconventional, and review Mass Effect 3 in terms of an emotional investment, rather than just a standard review outlining the features and usual criteria like ‘graphics’, ‘sound’, etc ; we all already know this is a AAA quality title in those categories.

Commander Shepard‘s near-five year journey has finally drawn to a close, and I’m proud to say that it’s a worthy, triumphant endgame- and no, the controversial ending does not change that." (Mass Effect 3, PC, PS3, Xbox 360) 9/10

I like the focus on the emotional impact of the game. I remember a few shows and films with WTF endings that made me feel unsatisfied but also made me think.

I still felt like I had been ripped off, but wasn't sure if that is the feeling the writers were going for or not.

I will soon finally see what all the hubub has been about. I've had literally no time for any game due to difficult schoolwork and semester finals (would have been terribly irresponsible), but today was the last day, so I plan on getting VERY acquainted with all of them over the next two months.

Eh, I don't see Bioware intentionally trying to anger their fanbase with the ending. I don't think there's really any chance of that, to be honest.

Now, I could see them planning some sort of post-game DLC, and that affecting their decisions regarding how to end the game (and ultimately screwing it up, if that's the case...I still haven't played ME3).

It wouldn't surprise me in the least if it was a marketing decision that caused the ending's design problems.
