Now they are just trying to use the Dinobots for sales. Anyone who knows about Transformers knows they were made on EARTH and never part of the CYBERTRON wars.
The story in this game is that the Dinobots are created by Shockwave after he discovers 'Star Bridge Technology', which he uses to find a world he can "suck dry" of Energon to save Cybertron. Shockwave finds Earth, sees the dinosaurs and decides to capture some Autobots and rebuild them as powerful dinosaur robots to use as his personal protectors, but things end up going wrong.
aPerson is spot on. This isn't the G1 Transformers. Go and do a little research on the game. You'll be suprised at just how good this looks.
This game (like war for cybertron) is being made by people who love the franchise. Matt Tieger (the head of high moon studios) had to fight for Grimlock and the Dinobots to be included in this game. Hasbro told him they were officially retired from the Transformers franchise until he and the lead writer created this amazing backstory to make them relevant again.
As for Hasbro "retiring" the Dinobots, that isn't completely true. If you read what Hasbro is quoted as saying, they just wanted the developers to come up with a good reason for them to be on Cybertron, before the Transformers discovered earth.
We had Dinobot Powercore Combiner toys last year. We had a MP Grimlock toy last year. The Dinobots were in TF Animated in 2009 (and we got toys for them), we got a Classics Grimlock toy in 2006, and we know the Transformers Prime team are quoted as saying that they plan on using the Dinobots too at some point in the show's future. They weren't being swept under the rug. All Hasbro wanted was a good reason to use Dinobots in FoC, rather than have them in the game just for the sake of it.
As passionate as Matt Tieger may be about the Transformers franchise (which I am thankful for), he is distorting things to try and make himself out to be a hero to Transformers fans.
I did find it strange after being able to pick up a MP Grimlock last year (which stands proudly in my game room), that Hasbro were keen to retire the Dinobots. Glad that isn't entirely true.
I'm liking Grimlocks new direction in this game. I'm loving that he is intelligent in the game, but has a distinct stutter that causes him to talk like G1 Grimlock after Shockwave screwed with his brain.
It's looking to be one hell of a game. I can't wait to see the interactions between Optimus and Grimlock.
