Splitkick: Publishers continually fail to provide any real value for purchasing their products at launch. Instead they have erected barriers and hide features behind one-time-use codes making it more difficult to play your new games. Combine that with the potential savings along with receiving all the content associated with a game and the early buying consumer gets raked over the coals. Excitement is being exploited instead of being fostered.
But there are the GOTY editions. Usually at a lower price with a lot more content. It's just not worth buying a game day1 anymore. You get nothing.....in fact, you get less for more money.
AMEN. Will be getting AC GOTY edition when it comes out...waiting pays off =)
I'll be getting AC3 and GTA5 Day 1, but I paid those off with store credit from selling my Dreamcast, Super Ninty, Sega Genesis etc.
plus with dlc 9/10 you can still get all the extras
i do agree with him though, early adopters like you and me are faithful to the companies and should be given some type of reward for not waiting to pick it up discounted
now you have another customer that buys your products here and there and usually waits for a price cut before he buys. then thinks its good but thats it doesnt really share it with anyone.
now which customer would you prefer? clearly the faithful one. so why not give them a little something extra for their loyalty? im not saying devs have to by any means but if i owned a company i would treat all my customers great but those extra faithful ones, i may treat them a little nicer
Why is it ok for developers to screw us over like that???
I like a ton of developers but if they keep pulling stunts like this than I'll just wait on every game until they release the full content.
Street Fighter X Tekken has characters on the disc LOCKED which you can unlock later when you pay more or wait for a next edition that will have them unlocked with even more characters and content at a lower price. Why is that ok?
I bought Bulletstorm off Steam for £3.75 last month.
People will complain about anthing. Arkham City was a fantastic game with tons of content and gameplay. It was worth the $60. What next? We going to cry because people who buy the Skyrim GOTY edition a year from now get a better deal than us?
