Up to 2,500 people affected in Wii scam

Many UK shoppers paid the price of Wii shortages this Christmas. The lack of Wii stock in the UK, meant many parents went online to find a Wii before Christmas. Many stumbled upon Ocean electronics who guaranteed delivery of the console for the middle of December. However the consoles never arrived, the company's website has now shut down and the building in which the shop was leased is up for auction at the end of January 2008. Only customers who paid with credit cards are covered to get their money returned, those who paid with debit cards are not. Trading Standards believes up to 2500 people may have been affected.

The story is too old to be commented.
