Kotaku writes: "The very first death threat I got was when we decided not to support dedicated servers in Modern Warfare 2," Robert Bowling, the former public face for the Call of Duty series, recently told me.
That was in 2009. He's had many more since, including batches of them every month throughout last year.
These are the people that give the industry a bad name and who are probably those gamers FOX likes to tell us about with anger issues. Reminds me of the homophobic comments on ME3. People just go too far sometimes.
They need to hunt down and charge every last one of those bastards, in my opinion. In Canada, uttering death threats could get you up to 5 years.
I know I've been on the receiving end of my share of hate mail from this site, and some of it's spilled over to messages from pissed off n4g members on PSN and XBL, and I've been told to **** off and die a few times but no one has ever actually sent me a death threat.
I don't think that many realize, you receive something seriously like that all you have to do is take it to your internet provider and they can start an investigation to track them down. And even if you don't live in the region where you threatened a person, are you breaking your local laws?
Oh and by the way, anyone reading this, I'm going to fucking kill you.
See how stupid that sounds over the net?
