i'm in the same boat as you. i want to like the game based on the style and setting, but i can't trust Capcom, especially when it's a game like this, and the footage of the game that i've seen always leaves me with mixed feelings.
also, i don't like the fact that (as far as we know) it's not coming out on PC as well. from the trailers and gameplay i've seen, i get the feeling this game is going to have some noticeable framerate drops.
I am in agreement. I want to like this, but somehow I always get the feeling this is nothing more than monster hunter medieval. I cannot help but notice all of the collision issues (look at the player and npc feet as they go through the ground). The character models look dated, and overall the worlds look cramped and confined. I am not feeling that the level of polish is sufficient for a AAA status (and price). I will wait for reviews but this one may be a bargain bin pickup.
That said it may be brilliant, although Capcom's track record is not a good one.
The thing is that, if you compare this to other games of the same kin, you'll find the level of polish in Dragon's Dogma to be far superior than the one in those.
Just look at Skyrim, the most popular example, and compare that with this. The difference is huge.
Game looks kinda cute. I'm not kidding. I have been hating on Capcom all this time, so I can't just help but think they're going to screw this game with dlc.
Capcom can be hit and miss with their titles. It is either a hit or rubbish there is no middle ground with them.
I have to wait for reviews for it.

I think its' going to be a huge hit, or a huge miss.
That being said, from the footage I've seen for far this game is a MUST buy for me.
(I'm usually willing to take the risk, cause I've had my gut prove me right before - in terms of me liking otherwise "misses")

But instead of waiting for reviews, you could download the demo that comes out tomorrow afternoon. I know I'll be jumping on it as soon as it hits.
