"There have been many great games, sure, but the titles included here are the games people are most likely to identify with today’s systems."

which game on that list make you think of an xbox 360, NONE

no gears of war

no halo

no alan wake

oh but uncharted and thatgamecompany is on there right. thatgamecompany make 3 arcade games and all of a sudden they are classed as one of the best games devs this gen????.

bias bulls**t as usual being posted on N4G.

i am a PC gamer but hate it when XBOX doesn't get a word in on N4G because it fills with sony fans.

First of all the article was meant to be on the subject of franchises that have established themselves THIS generation, and, although Halo 3/Reach were very successful, to me the Halo franchise established itself last generation with Combat Evolved on the original Xbox.

In answer to Alan Wake, there's only been one retail game and one downloadable experience, which isn't much of a franchise.

I didn't include Gears because, personally, I don't really like the series. But that's my opinion and I fully respect that a lot of people really liked those games.

I included thatgamecompany because all three of the 'arcade' games they released were some of the most critically-acclaimed of this generation - and for me the studio lead the way in terms of what downloadable experiences can deliver.

"the titles included here are the games PEOPLE are most likely to identify with today’s systems."

your saying the list is what people think not you.

you are an absolute appalling journalist and writer.

"I didn't include Gears because, personally, I don't really like the series"

so you didn't add gears of war an actual genre defining game of this gen because you don't like it. id be suprised if you even played it to judge.

"Dan Jenko explores the groundbreaking GAMES and franchises"

alan wake is a game so explore it.

"to me the Halo franchise established itself last generation"

mario established its self 3 gens ago but you still put the 3D version of a 20+ year old game on there.

you are sony all the way as your comment history on here shows.

your a disgrace to the gaming industry and should stick to writing about music.

TITLE CHANGE: Eight Greatest Success Stories Of This Gaming Generation According to Dan Jenko who only owns a PS3.

It's labeled as an opinion piece, so what are you complaining about?

And as much as you spout PC love, what right do you have to accuse anyone else of being biased? That, and you've been on the site for 50 days?

Disagree with his opinion if you like, but at least he's given his reasons for his opinion, while you've pretty much just said, "Your opinion is wrong because I have a different one."

It's an opinion piece, not a news piece? Feel free to suggest what games you would have included if you wish...

"Dan Jenko explores the groundbreaking games and franchises that have defined this current console generation."

you never explored anything. you just wrote down what games you like.

my list would go something like this

1. your a bad writer

2. your a sony fanboy

3. your a bad journalist

4. you own 1 console

5. you forgot killzone

6. stop writing about games

7. im running out of things to say

8. I don't like you. You just watch yourself. im a wanted man. I have the death sentence on twelve systems.

Don't listen to him DanJenkoFMV, it is your opinion. The article is clearly labelled as so.

That is all.

I can think of a few others i'd include like Motorstorm but you covered off many that have done well.

The only one i'd disagree with is Mario as it was established many gens ago :-)

@ SPAM-FRITTER-123

I'm not quite understanding the level of rage here. Ok, so you disagree with his selections. We get that. But calling someone a 'disgrace to the gaming industry' simply because they didn't include the games you think they should have is plain bizarre.

I'd hardly say Alan Wake was a defining experience of this console generation, and Halo was much more synonymous with the previous one. It's arguable that Gears could have been included - but I reckon Uncharted and thatgamecompany have probably done more groundbreaking work in the medium.
Gaming101  +   422d ago
lol Alan Wake was garbage, Halo is cliche and overdone with sub hd graphics so really, who cares, and gears of war is mindless. You're like a 360 fanboy from 2006

@SPAM-FRITTER-123
I guess you decided to ignore all those negative Sony articles posted on N4G, huh. Clearly those are never posted here on N4G.

First to put down Uncharted for being "short". But when someone forgets to mention Gears, an even shorter game, LOOK OUT! Here comes the PC/Xbox(Microsoft) defender SPAM-FRITTER-123!

Don't forget about the Just Dance franchise, even though I've never been a fan, it has been a huge success.
DanJenkoFMV  +   422d ago
Good point actually, dance games in general have really come on this gen and Just Dance certainly lead the way on that.
