IGN writes: "We got lots of hands-on time with the first portable dual analog FPS ever created. So what did we think about this PS Vita title? Watch the video preview to find out."
the framerate is a constant 30fps now :)
The game is looking good. I'll admit I'm kind of disappointed it's taking place in America again, it would have been cool to see a Resistance game set in somewhere like Africa or China. But oh well, this could probably be the first great handheld FPS and I'll buy it right after my exams.
Looks very good. Day one. I love Resistance.
So the touch screen controls mandatory? I've always been curious: I have to imagine that it makes movement awkward when you have to take your thumbs of the analog sticks to reload and knife, especially when you play online. I saw the same for UC:A, they should really make it optional. I dont know why VITA lacked the R3 and L3, but couldnt they map this to the backpad? The four corners could each support the missing inputs, or is that uncomfortable?
The back pad is for sprinting. Also, I read in an interview with the designer of the vita that he would've loved to make an l3 and r3 but it's very difficult for the engineers to accomplish on a handheld. There's always give and take between designers and engineers.
Well you have to take your thumb off the analog stick to reload in consoles, but the knife thing does sound kind of annoying, so does the double tap on the back to sprint. I hope there are plenty of options for button mapping. Be nice to tap one of the buttons to activate sprint.
Another option to sprint is to hold down on the d-pad.
Can't wait! Seriously impressive for a handheld.
that video seemed like a review with its negativity.
What? Didn't seem too negative to me, just pointed out some things that might be problems. I don't know why a preview can't be negative in general though.
lol he talks about touch screen controls like its awful for a shooter, this makes me laugh considering all the ipad vs vita articles on the internet. shooters on ipad will be horrible compared to Vita
I still have terrible memories of me struggling with Metroid Prime Hunters and it's terribly uncomfortable control scheme with a stylus. Seriously I had to hold the DSI with one hand to play the game which felt unnatural. Also first person shooters are virtually unplayable on a mobile phone with just the touch screen especially on my XperiaRay. XperiaRay
Like I said, the lack of L3 + R3 input would be the new "right" analog stick for the Vita. Instead of trying to make things work around for the touch controls, developers find more ways to make it obtrusive. This is why they should be making VITA games, not games that emulate consoles. F*ck when will Gravity Rush come?
More like they shouldn't make games that emulate smart phone games.
Game is looking fanfrickintastic.
Hey guys just to get clarrified. How many player can play online. Is it 8 vs 8 or 4 vs 4?
4 vs 4
oh my god i cant wait!!!! Burning Skies is my most anticipated vita title!!!!! man i just wish San Diego Studios releases an online patch soon , ModNation Racers Road Trip is great but could be better with that patch
