Loud Mouthed Gamers: "While Apple may define their 3rd generation iPad as a console, industry professionals are fighting back."
The iPad a console? You have to buy an iPad 6 times compared to the one generation of consoles. Just stupid.
not only is it not a true gaming machine, if anything its a handheld not a console.
Some problems: -VERY EXPENSIVE -Low battery life (thanks to more processing power) -No physical buttons (some games won't work) -No games like Mario, God of War, Uncharted, Zelda, Gran Turismo, Mario Kart, etc etc etc -Some important multiplatform developers won't give it a chance The Ipad will be as powerful as a x360 in 2014~2015 but we will have the sucessor to PS3, x360 and WiiU. There is no way it will be able to compete. Just stop with this kind of article because it's stupid.
"VERY EXPENSIVE" Not for most people... "Low battery life (thanks to more processing power)" 10 hours dont do it for you? "No games like Mario, God of War, Uncharted, Zelda, Gran Turismo, Mario Kart, etc etc etc" Why should it have them?
""VERY EXPENSIVE" Not for most people... " I bought a ps3 at launch for $599, i wouldn't classify that as cheap or easy reached, just because i am a big sony fan. ""No games like Mario, God of War, Uncharted, Zelda, Gran Turismo, Mario Kart, etc etc etc" "Why should it have them? " Well it needs titles to play first of all, and despite the popular trend recently of downplaying the importance of exclusive games to a consoles lineup. There should be some quality games that are strictly on that system. However $600 for an ipad versus $249 for a vita and $179 or 199 for a 3ds for mobile gaming. -_- There seems to some segment of websites that believe pushing tablet/ipad gaming is somehow beneficial for gamers.
"Why should it have them?" Seriously? and you want Ipad to compete using small apps, weak games like Infinity Blade and multiplatform games? Are you kidding?
Yes, it will revolutionize the industry...in that now you will have to pay $600 yearly to keep up. But oh yeah, those $5-$10 apps are SO worth it.
No, just no. Is this article written by an Apple troll fanboy? I have an ipad 2, but I never play games on it, not even Angry Birds (I find it boring). The pPad doesn't have buttons and need battery. So it's disqualified.
That's like saying a PC is a console. By the way I would much rather game on a PC than a fad electronic.
The iPad3 is not. The iPad4 will not. As many advances as tablets make, they will constantly be behind consoles. As it is, the iPad isn't even a handheld yet; it'd have to surpass that to become a console.
The Ipad can't even hold a candle to the psp and ds game libraries. God what does it take to make these people realize that the Ipad is simply a tablet first and gaming is only an added feature. If it was a gaming machine it would have the proper gaming interface and ergonomics to begin with.
It should be the wii first when it comes to games. Hardware is not enough nowadays, software is needed and optimization is most important in equipment which are closed to upgrades. I enjoy the ipad2 and will probably buy ipad5 or something where it can probably match console quality games though I doubt developers would makes games over $20.
No in terms of gaming it is not up there...........the gameboy is better Lets compare some rpgs and see which we think control better, have more depth, and are just better overall zenonia 4 - Broken controls, 15 hour game chaos rings 2 - Great game , 15 hour game infinity blade 2 - shallow, bad controls, 15 hour game ff type zero - 50+ hours, great controls pokemon black white - 60+ hours, great controls, depth findgom hearts DDD - 50+ hours, great controls, depth
yep fails in games department. Plus I need more than a touch screen to play games. I dont mind a touch screen as long as games are controlled with an actual controller primarily
it's a great platform for casual gamers who aren't too interested in traditional controller type games. apple could even release a pretty bluetooth controller...
