Pikimal: Naval War: Arctic Circle Review – The Importance of Information

Pikimal: Apart from these issues, the game is otherwise well made and invokes the spirit of realistic naval combat well. There’s a fairly robust campaign with short missions and a handful of extra ones that are also playable in the multiplayer mode, which is about as functional as the rest of the game in its only flavor of 1v1. If there’s anything to be said about Naval War, it’s that it might just be a bit too proud of its mechanics, eschewing basic things like identifying an enemy when it does something as obvious as fire at you or explaining what any of the names of weapons or devices signify. The game might just have benefited from less love in balancing realism and fun and more in an instruction manual or at least a tutorial.
