Are spectacular sales and insane discounts a problem for the industry?

Good Old Games says that crazy sales and discounts hurt the industry and gamers alike. Are Steam sales really "training" you to devalue games?

Publishers/Studios collect profit from the sales or they wouldn't bother....plus many of us gamers empty our wallets and buy bulks of bundles....hell,we even buy games and gift them to our friends/family..

I don't think you understand the article. It's not saying that the publishers/developers aren't making money from the deep discount sales, it's saying that the sales might be devaluing the worth of games in gamer's minds. It's much the same argument of iPhone/Android games for $1 devaluing PSP/DS games for $30. I'm not entirely sure if I agree with it, but it does make a lot of sense.

I do not agree. I will spend top dollar for a game series I love. But if it is a game that I can do without, I will wait on the sales. However if the game I bought on sale is top notch and a new favorite, i'll pay top dollar next time.
