David Hollingworth: It occurs to me there are two ways to look at the addition of multiplayer to Max Payne 3. If I were being uncharitable, I’d find it a worrying development; after all, the first two are still considered classics without having multiplayer. Then there’s the age-worn argument that time spent developing a feature no-one’s missed in the past could be better spent on making sure that sharp, short singleplayer game is as good as it can be.
But here’s the thing – if the multiplayer in Max Payne 3 is actually good, surely it’s just an added bonus, like getting more bacon with your serving of bacon?
Well, thankfully, it is pretty good."
