MotorStorm: Pacific Rift - Hidden Gems

GamingUnion: "Released back in the fall of 2008, MotorStorm: Pacific Rift was, in my opinion, the pinnacle of Sony’s gritty racing franchise and remains one of the most underappreciated racers of the current console generation. It successfully built on the solid foundation of the original MotorStorm - adding much-needed functionality, expertly-designed tracks and more generally satisfying carnage - to create an experience that could appeal beyond the usual racing audience." (Motorstorm:Pacific Rift, PS3)

Awesome game, great controls, beautiful visuals, original tracks, love it.

Damn straight it was. It was one of the best off road racers period and people just ignored it with people trying to give it low scores for minor things. It deserved to be on pedestal and people just dumped it in the bargain bin just like Okami and Rayman Origins. It is always a sorry sight to see good game not get the recognition it deserves.

I'm not usually into racing games but this series is amazing.
Too bad apocalypse didn't go so well, hope they make another Motorstorm game on nextgen consoles.

Fully agree, the best in the series, and also some good DLC that proved a challenge. Apocalypse just tried to introduce too many gimmicky features and seemed to lose focus from what made pacific rift my favourite racing game this gen

I'm still looking forward to playing it all again in 3D once I have the money for a decent TV upgrade

The first Motorstorm is still my favorite, although I liked Pacific Rift to. Apocalypse not so much, but I don't have a 3D tv. The first game did miss a lot of features and the loading was slow, but it got me hooked in a way the other games couldn't. Fewer tracks, but better imo. Piloting a rallycar on Grizzly or through Sidewinder was so exciting and fun, especially online with other good rallycar racers. Lobby's were simple but worked, you could play with the same opponents for hours, for revenge. No buttons for ramming, just the steering. Even the sound of a rallycar imo was better in the first game, I hated the noise in part 2, and they were definitely not as cool as the old black& white.

But Pacific Rift was still a Motorstorm game. With Apocalypse they went nuts, and (again imo) not in a good way. Boosting 24/7, to much focus on speed, chaos and 3D effects, not so much on racing the other opponents. I hope Sony keeps Evolution in business and that we'll see a new, muddy Motorstorm on PS4.

Motorstorm pacific rift is the game that made me buy a PS3. When I saw this racer my jaw hit the floor! Great racing, lovely graphics and a sound that blows you away. To me this is one of the best racers on any console, that's one of the best not THE best. Online is just dam right fantastic, its that good.
If you like your racers get this, you will love it. ( Make sure you watch the intro to the game, the music is great and gets you all reved up to play the game. Enjoy it!
