PlayStation Blog: The Legend of Dragoon was one of the last projects I worked on as a producer in Japan Studio and by far the biggest team I managed hands-on. We started the project in 1996 with only a handful of people, hired one by one as we were building up teams for Ape Escape, The Legend of Dragoon, and Ico simultaneously. During the peak of the game’s development, we had well over 100 people working internally in the studio on The Legend of Dragoon — for a PSone game! We had roughly 10 artists dedicated just to drawing concept art for this gigantic RPG. As the game contained lots of pre-rendered maps and full-motion videos, we were forced to spread the content over four CDs, which was the maximum number of discs that the fattest PSone game case could hold.
For some gamers, The Legend of Dragoon is, hands down, the best RPG ever. Isn't it time for a remake or reboot and not just a port?
It never will. The game may have been good, but it was just average at best. The kind of game that is one and done.
I'm happy with the PS Classics port, but if they did, I'd like a port/remaster of Legend of Legaia as well (please put that on PSN).
A team of modders has been working on an unofficial PC port of the 32-bit Playstation JRPG, The Legend of Dragoon.
If Square Enix can remake FF7, then why not Sony?
Remake these classics, Sony ... not recent games like Until Dawn
Crazy square doesn't do this kind of thing themselves with all their classics. I'd throw lots of money. Thank God we have such great communities as they're always the ones that properly remaster these games.
Robert Ramsey: "If you're looking for a PS1 RPG experience that typifies the era, The Legend of Dragoon is a solid shout. A big budget title at the time, its ambition is still hard to fault — but with the benefit of hindsight, it's also easy to see where this Sony-backed release stumbles. The combat system is uniquely satisfying, but it can feel frustratingly stunted. Meanwhile, endearing characters carry an emotional story, but an awkward localisation effort comes close to sabotaging the script. A flawed classic, but a memorable adventure all the same."
I loved about everything about it way back besides the button pressing in battles and inventory limit. Everything else I felt was really good. 7 seems fair
I rate this a 9/10. I absolutely think it’s one of the RPGs the PS1 had to offer.
One of my favorite games growing up. Almost beat it now for the 1st time in 23 years lol never managed to finish it as a kid. This will be one of my most satisfying gaming achievements
That's a big one.
Sony needs to get the PSone games working on the Vita NOW!
I've been waiting for this game since they announced it for the Japanese store sometime last year. It's finally coming to the US and I can't wait.
Hopefully they will bring LOD2 back to life and bring it to the PS3 or PS4, if LOD does well as a PSone classic here in the states.
Oh god yes finally i still have my PS1 copy but im still gonna buy this to transfer to my psp :D.
Hey Sony how about starting a kickstarter for LOD2 come on you know you want too.
* LOD2 was put into preproduction after I left the Japan Studio, but was eventually cancelled for some unknown reason, and the team members moved on to different projects.*
WTF no how could they do that f*ck man :(.
GTFO! are you kidding. I think i need change my boxers. I have been waiting for this for years!
holy crap this is great news
