Molyneux: Fable 3 is "a personal failure"

Peter Molyneux believes Fable 3 needed more time, and its shortcomings were his fault.

Speaking in an interview, Molyneux owns up:

"I take this as a personal failure. And it is a personal failure. Not being persuasive enough that Fable 3 needed more time. That's purely and utterly my fault. It's me not being clear enough about it.

Here he goes again and it never fails.....

Emilio_Estevez2414d ago

He already went on to the next part of the cycle, saying things he can't actually achieve. He's gonna change the world! Yea right.

he lost all credibility with me after Fable 2, didn't waste my time with F3.

is media nice to him because he is an old guy? would love to see someone calling him out to his face.

Fable 2 was great. A great and natural evolution of the first game. You could even call it a re-imagining of the first game. It had a great story, great mechanics and I think those mechanics of gaining notoriety and being able to interact with large groups at a time would have served Fable 3 even better. In Fable 3 they made changes for making changes sake and it was huge step backwards.

One of the biggest disappointments of the generation.

Are you talking about the game, or him?

Enough already with the BS apology every game

Anon19742414d ago (Edited 2414d ago )

Are you kidding me? What developer actually has the balls to come out and admit when they drop the ball. My hat's off to Molyneux for admitting when something didn't go as planned. The guy's given me personally some of my best gaming experiences ever, and so what if Fable wasn't all things to all people, the guy has been an inspiration to gamers and developers like me.

I love that Molyneux is excited about his projects, that he dreams big and I hate that everyone is so quick to jump on the guy when not everything that comes out of his mouth makes it into a game. Who cares? Why shouldn't he be able to talk about what he wants to do prior to doing it without repercussions? He's delivered the goods more times than not. I don't think there's any BS in his statements. He thinks Fable 3 needed more time and he feels he didn't convey that to the publisher effectively. The guy can't have an opinion on his own development?

Godmars2902414d ago

While he does indeed get a point for being honest to a degree and admit that he's made mistakes, he loses them for making dozens of claims while a game's in development and not delivering on them. Of saying things just to have something to give an interviewer.

He's made himself a victim of his own reputation, as apposed to living up to it.

I got a feeling you needed a platform to vent your frustrations over people's complaints , that wasnt truly me .

i'm just tired of the repetitive rate at wich he releases games then apologize .
Especially when he then proceed to redo mistakes again the very next game to restart the apologising process , instead of truly improving them .

It's becoming a schtick like the boy crying wolf .

Ares84HU2414d ago

Why would you make a game that you hate?? I don't get it. Something is wrong with this man.

Haven't we read this four times today already?
