Good that whole thing was a waste in a poorly put together package.
They should just focus on putting out smaller individual videos rather than a big downloadable thing thats irritating to use. Making ofs, dev diaries, they could even look to some of the good gaming related series on the net for inspiration.
They could put out little featurettes, lets plays, maybe some reviews. As long as they let them go at it unbiased it would be pretty good. If there could be a show of the caliber of all your history or jon tron's shows.
It would be a relatively cheap way to get people looking at their games and content as easy passive and consumer friendly advertising. Though it would rely on quality content.
It probably would have been more effective if they'd streamed it. A poorly-put together show is nothing. Look at the crap clogging the gaming media today. It's just that no one wants to wait an hour to DOWNLOAD a poor put-together gaming show.
No way, the money should be spent on developing a sit-com. It stars a Sony Executive and a Microsoft Executive, who have to share an apartment in downtown New York for utterly arbitrary reasons. They are frequently visited by Fanboy, a fickle videogame fan who frequently switches sides completely from one exec to the other, depending on whatever wacky scenario is in play for that episode. Antics ensue.
Clearly, this is a gold-mine. Can I have my million dollars NOW, Sony?
That idea is literally the best thing that could happen to tv today. I'm completely serious. Tv is crap these days and I feel like an old man when I saw I miss the 90's and "when I was younger we had better tv shows." It's just the truth though.
Yeah I bet once she found out that Sony wasn't renewing their contract with Future Studios, the makers of Qore, she probably started looking for a new job. That's probably the real reason she left.
2, the fact that buying it was worthless because PSN Plus uses got it free AND ANYONE could have seen it free in Playstation HOME theaters. Which made actually paying for it obsolete.
And it also was a considerable waste of resources. I liked the show, but I'd much rather have sony be using those resources on some of their 1st parties than a kinda pointless "video magazine".
@lodossrage I did in fact say "kinda pointless". I know, not a very good word to put next to "pointless" but hey, It's there. Though I agree it did lose its value because of home, but even if it wasn't on home, how many subscribers do you think home actually brought in?? I can't imagine it was very much. Also my wording was off, I didn't mean pointless, but unnecessary. We also have to consider the fact that Sony is predicting around 5 billion in losses this year.. I'm pretty sure it has a lot to do with restructuring and refocusing.
Ha! Your comment is the perfect example of someone who thinks their extra clever and subtle and has an open portal to post their thoughts... When in fact you just come off as some weird dude who sounds like a villan on Star Trek...
"Cracks are beginning to show" he types and then immediately starts rubbing his open hands together while laughing to himself...
It is better than a print magazine. Free themes and games (pre psn+ of course) with video normally not found anywhere. The biggest selling point for me was first dibs for betas but that also comes with psn+.
It needed to be upgraded and pushed better but no, your not really missing anything.
"On The Road with Qore" was awesome. Otherwise, sure, it wasn't that great.
If they did nothing but tour around, visiting games studios and the touring the cities they were in, like they did with their "On The Road with Qore" videos, it would have been brilliant though.
