Very good article and I agree with pretty much everything you said. Smart players in competitive communities will adapt to dominant tactics and find counters, but if something simply can't be countered reliably or realistically, it needs to be re-evaluated. The recent Mortal Kombat game is a good example of BAD patching. NetherRealm, bless their hearts, did too much too soon and almost killed their game's community because of it. Only a few dedicated players could keep up with the games changes enough to stay competitive. Sometimes developers should just let it rock and see how things evolve.
