5 Most Gruesome Character Deaths of the Gaming Generation

*Spoiler Alert* Games are filled with heartfelt storylines, memorable characters and of course death. Over the past few years there have been some sad deaths, some sort of satisfying deaths and even some funny deaths but they all have one thing in common and that’s violence and bloodshed. Games execute feeling better than some books and movies and when it comes to killing off characters they usually make it as shocking and gruesome as possible. So over the past few years there has been a lot of bloodshed but which deaths are considered the most gruesome of this time period? (Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, Dead Rising, Heavy Rain , PC, PS3, Red Dead Redemption, Saints Row 2, Wii, Xbox 360)

I would say Heavy Rain and Dead rising had a pretty good amount of gruesome deaths (depending on how you play them), picking just one in the mix of those to games is pretty impossible

Heavy Rain definitely did. But the game that should be on this list is Dead Space

Thank you for writing spoiler alert cause I have not beat heavy rain yet

its a great game. its actually my favorite ps3 exclusive just because of how different it is. love the story you will have fun with that game.

Just for future reference, look at the tags after the article write up. That way you can see if there is a game you have not yet beaten or wish to avoid spoilers for.

I also had Heavy Rain spoiled for me. Still a great game to play through!

Get on it before it gets spoiled for you like it was me. Some dumbass wrote an article on best villains, didn't mark it properly, and said who the killer was.
Fylus  +   1205d ago
That must have seriously ruined the the experience in game when you finally learn who the killer is. I feel for you:(
BlackTar187  +   1204d ago
well the day heavy rain came out some jerk on here made his name the killer . Ruined the whole game for me.

I'd have to say Manhunt and Manhunt 2 (with the uncensored mod) had some of the most gruesome deaths I've ever saw in a game. Eternal Champion is a close second. This gen though, I'd go with God of War 3.

Yeah i agree with this Manhunt 1 & 2 had the most gruesome deaths. Even though Manhunt 2 was censored i had a cheat code on how to make it uncensored for the ps2.

Every time Kratos kills a God.
Fylus  +   1205d ago
The fight with Poseidon was beautifully brutal.
THILLREBORN  +   1205d ago
Yeah some Kratos kills were a bit much especially in part 3...

i didnt read the article but imo hands down its Isac getting the neddle in the eye!
synchroscheme  +   1205d ago
I thought for sure Dead Space would make the list!
Old McGroin  +   1205d ago
Pretty tame list by all accounts.
FarCryLover182  +   1205d ago
Issac Clarke had it pretty bad. I played Dead Space 1 and 2 and tried to die in as many ways as possible. It was gruesome!
Rupee  +   1205d ago
Yeah John Marston really made me sad... I don't if it was optimism or what but I didn't see it coming. I was pissed/depressed for like three days.
pbasson  +   1205d ago
One name Issac Clarke. One series Dead Space. Enough said

Dead Space Eye Poke Machine DX
Razgriz383  +   1205d ago
You know the list is false if John Marston isn't on it.
Fylus  +   1205d ago
I wouldn't say his was as brutal as the others, but by FAR more emotional.
Kos-Mos  +   1204d ago
I thought, finally the game is over, BUT NO. I just can`t find the "western" atmosphere in that game.
mayberry  +   1205d ago
brutal melees in killzone 3 are awesomly brutal! also mortal kombat has to be on the list too! Love the "x-ray" moves!
humbleopinion  +   1204d ago
Seems like this list is actually missing on the proper most gruesome deaths this gen:
- God of War 3: First person perspective of poking-my-eyes-out
- Gears of War 2: Chainsaw the hearts of the riftworm. All 4 of them
- Dead Space: Issac Ripped apart
- The Darkness 2: Death by tentacles
- Bulletstorm: half of the combos actually
- Worms (any): Death by prod
abombletap  +   1204d ago
I agree with the God of War 3: First person perspective of poking-my-eyes-out. that was so memorable for me in that game.
ian72  +   1204d ago
Condemned 2 had some good killings/deaths.
M1chl  +   1204d ago
From that list, my no. 1 pick is Carlos from SR2. I really didn't expect that and with my avatar killing him, its really something I haven't came around before...
MacUser1986  +   1204d ago
Have we forgotten the infamous harpoon through the head of the Capture Trooper in Killzone 3?

I think the list does need to be adjusted a little more as in add more gruesome deaths to it from many other games.
