"Proving they can work as fast as the gameplay in their titles, under PlatinumGames the new script for Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance in which Raiden is contracted for VIP protection was rewrote in 2 months. In contrast, it took Kojima Productions some 10 months to do so."

Godmars2902361d ago

Don't get what you're trying to say. Grim prospect for the game? Kojima productions? Platinum games?

WildArmed2361d ago

I think he was implying the lack of thought that probably went into the script from PG, vs when KP does it?

Thou, personally I'll reserve my judgement until i actually play it.

Things do look grim thou >.<

But the fact that they also did Vanquish gives me hope.

blitz06232361d ago (Edited 2361d ago )

Those lines interest me as well.

By 'rewrite' I'm assuming it's very different from what Kojima Productions originally made. I know this because Platinum Games don't make story driven games like Kojima. This game really is gonna be just like Bayonetta. Gameplay will be good (and probably good enough for me to buy it), but all others are scrapped. Not really a Metal Gear game in my eyes...

SilentNegotiator2361d ago (Edited 2361d ago )

They crapped out a rewrite in 2 months in place of Kojima Production's script?

Welp, it isn't MG at all anymore. An apparent Hack and Slash focus, outside writers, different developers...

And Platinum Games, of all people. Such an over-rated studio. A poorly balanced and short TPS, a hack and slash with an unfocused combat system that never would have been rated so high if not a timely competitor to GOW3 and starring a grotesque "sexy" creature for our immature industry to fap to, that repetitive game whose only qualities were its "artistic" decision to have 3 colors and its ultraviolence....

They sure get a lot of hype for their bland games. And I'm sure as Raiden hacks baddies up for 6 hours, this game will, too.

"The human enemies were removed to avoid censorship issues in Japan."
-'ve got to be kidding me.

8bit_Nes_Rambo2361d ago

Silentnegotiator: You sound angry.

SilentNegotiator2361d ago

I stated my opinion of Platinum Games. Don't attempt to attach a negative emotion to it...make a reasonable counter-argument if you disagree.

Hayabusa 1172361d ago

Regardless of whether 2 months is enough for a decent re-write, it won't be a Metal Gear game without a solid story (no pun intended).

Let's hope it turns out good.

Whitefox7892361d ago

@SilentNegotiator Japan actually has huge issues when it comes to blood and decapitation in which there was an abundant amount in the initial trailer.

Usually when it comes to decapitation they only allow it when it is implied but not actually shown such as all the RE4 versions in JPN were censored to this affect akin to what you see now in RE5.

Probably one case that stands out too well is No More Heroes where the Japanese version has blood replaced with pixels and no gore at all until the HD rerelease for the PS3 and 360, though the PS3 version is still censored.

Here's the PS3 rerelease scene of assassin number 6 blowing her head off.

NA Version:

JPN Version:

I don't know why its like this....

Perjoss2361d ago

"Welp, it isn't MG at all anymore"

By that logic Uncharted: Golden Abyss isn't an Uncharted game either seeing as it wasn't made by Naughty Dog.

Godmars2902361d ago

No. Golden Abyss wouldn't be an Uncharted game if it was about a bank heist while ignoring any character development Drake might have had in prior games instead of a treasure hunting explorer.

This game is about Raiden remaining a blood thirsty killer *after* having settled major issues with his life.

RedDead2361d ago (Edited 2361d ago )

This game will likely shi* on MG's Raiden. But **** it. We all know what it is. A dirty Spin off. I still can't wait for it, the gameplay looks amazing imo. Although of course people who don't like hack and slash won't like it.

This Gif is when I was like "oh this'll be awesome"

SilentNegotiator2361d ago (Edited 2361d ago )

If they make an Uncharted game that switches focus from platforming, shooting, and treasure driving and fighting off a robot apocalypse...then I'll say the same thing about that title.

But no, you're just trying to make out a playstation equivalent. It's like everyone on N4G tries to turn everything into being about Call of Duty or Playstation.

I'm still waiting for your response, if you even make one. But right now it looks like you're going to leave it at the insane assertion that my text "sounds mad"

8bit_Nes_Rambo2361d ago

Silentnegotiator: You pretty much validated my statement on your own.

milohighclub2361d ago

Vanquish was good, no where near as good as this was gonna be, bayonneta was horrible.

This was a day one, not because I'm a metal gear fan, cos I ain't really, because it looked like the kinda game I always wanted metal gear to be.

The moment I saw the first trailer by PG I decided I wasn't buying it anymore.

Really disappointed in kojima, why would they ruin the game like this? It's like they want to lose sales???

I'm sure the sales of mg4 much out way those of bayonneta or vanquish.

Gameplay would be fine sure... I do miss the cut everything aspect they had as it looked more interesting.

Im more worried about the story, since Platinum is handling it rather than Kojima.... and well, their stories are different.

Some witch with latex hair fighting angels and is half angel and demon confuses me...

Im on wait and see for this one

Gen0ne2361d ago

Sounds like DMC... oh wait.

Jazz41082361d ago (Edited 2361d ago )

This game has about as good a chance of seeing the light of day as ff versus. To al the people putting platinum games down just don't forget kojima picked them.

fei-hung2361d ago

Im looking forward to this since there really has been a lack of decent hack n slash this gen and this game looks like it will be making up for some of it.

The best thing about this game for fans of MGS and PG is simple:

1) it is not MGS (meaning dont worry if it plays differently)
2) its not MGS (it can have OTT tight gameplay and not be limited by MGS

Had this been a MGS game, it would be a different story but since it isnt, I dont expect anything but the best from PG and Kojima Productions.

bobrea2361d ago

I'm not happy about it either.

xAlmostPro2361d ago

Although i've said from the start(as soon as finding out platinum games were doing it)that it would end up just being a bayonetta game with an MGS skin.

Doesn't look half as good/cool as the original demo provided by kojima.

P.S don't get me wrong bayonetta was a good game, and platinum games are good at what they do. MGS is just one of those franchises that has always had a quality seal on it. This seems to be heading below that, which sucks because i have a raiden man crush.

SephirothX212361d ago

This isn't a MG game but it could still be a good game. Platinum games are a good dev. Just look at Bayonetta and Vanquish for proof of that. If you want to play a MG game, Rising isn't for you so get Peace Walker or wait until MGS5 (PS4 exclusive). If you want a good hack n' slash, then Rising is for you.

NYC_Gamer2361d ago

This will be my first skipped MG game :(

WildArmed2361d ago (Edited 2361d ago )

First two MG games you shoulda skipped shoulda been MGS:AC!D and AC!D2 haha

I love MGS, I really do. But i just couldn't play the AC!D series

NeXXXuS2361d ago

The acid games were actually really fun. I found a lot of replay value in them. Took them with me to school everyday just to keep playing them.

WildArmed2361d ago

Really? Hmm, then maybe i was too quick to dismiss them.

I read that they aren't apart of the main story, so i kinda dismissed them. But if they are as fun as you say, i'll go buy Ac!d, bet it's really cheap now.

Thou atm, I'm putting alot of time into MGS:PO. I played MGS:PW first, so MGS:PO feels weird haha

Venox20082361d ago

Acid games are great, buy them really..

wnek92361d ago

acid games were great

Whitefox7892361d ago (Edited 2361d ago )

I liked the first Ac!d for the story of the game mostly, it did suffer from horrible framerate issues with the blood in the game.

Though this was remedied in the sequel by taking the blood out (I also like the cell shaded style graphics in that game).

Either way I personally love both of them and would recommend either one for any PSP owner.

Shane Kim2361d ago

I think I'll skip it too. MG for me (and all MG fans) is about the stealth gameplay and the story. This game has no stealth and is probably not story driven at all. I could be wrong though and I hope it.

The Play mag don't reveal anything new in terms of screenshots. If they did I would have published the scans. ;)
