The crew of Sega Addicts pick their Top 10 favorite Sega Saturn games.
Just shows how N64 & PSX completely dominated the fifth generation in terms of quality.
Didn't help that the Saturn was so complicated to program for at the time. A lot of truly hardcore gamers really love the Sega Saturn and it was impressive and had a nice library of games.
Mmm Nights and Panzer Dragoon Saga, yes please.
I have 6 out of 10 of these games. Gotta love Panzer Dragoon RPG, played it on Japanese though. Guardian Heroes was a great game, too bad I didn't get the chance to own a copy =/
I'll take (and I took) a Playstation with Destruction Derby, Battlearena Toshinden and Doom over these games any day. It wasn't even a competition.
I still have those game with the exception of panzer dragoon saga. I have part 1 and zwei though.
Saturn Bomberman should be top 5 for sure, that was the greatest party game on the system. Stealing roos' and trapping your friends next to a bomb was all night entertainment on many sleepovers. Shining Force 3 should be on their too, only part 1 was ported, but it was very good and showed the Saturn could be the successor to the genesis, it just came too late to matter.
I just nostalgiaed all over the place
Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3.....Saturn had the best console version in my opinion...
Shinning Force 3, Albert Odyssey and Magic Knight Rayearth are best jrpg's on the system. And probably the only Jrpg's that got released outside of Japan. XD Oh! and Dragon Force, how could I have missed that one!
Leave us not forget Shining the Holy Ark, to this day one of my all time fave RPGs. I do have all of the above as well, and all are grand. I even managed to snag a copy of Panzer Dragoon Saga. Tonnes of classic games on that system. They really should've designed it to be 3D from the getgo, not 2D, haha.
I'm sorry but you can't leave out Shining Force 3 and Sega Rally. Clockwork Knight 2 was subpar and Sonic Jam was just a compilation. There were loads of games much better than those on the Saturn.
i remember a few years ago at my local video game shop i picked up a sega saturn with 15 games (of my choosing) for 60 bucks lol.. love the system..too bad about the time it was released.
Sega Saturn the console that gave rise to Sakura Taisen one of my all time favorite JRPGs. Too bad that game wasn't localize. :(
1. Shining Force 3 with all the episodes translated (most epic RPG of the 90's) only to be tied with Panzer Dragoon Saga (Azel). 2. Dragon Force 1 and 2 <---wasn't localized in the U.S. 3. Guardian Heroes (best beat 'em up, even to this day). 4. Burning Rangers (excellent idea, decent execution). 5. Saturn Bomberman 6. Albert Odyssey 7. Panzer Dragoon and P.D Zwei 8. Darkstalkers series and Xmen: children of the Atom (2d fighters were excellent given the amazing directional control pad). 9. Fighting Vipers, The last bronx, Fighters megamix 10. Sega Rally There are other gems like shining the holy ark and shining wisdom. Megaman x4 still looks amazing (and frustrating as hell). I was the only kid on my block with a Saturn and I never regretted buying one, not once.
