Techtorial: Playstation Vita is a powerful piece of gaming device with lots of promising titles from its arsenal; however, its cost might be the thing that's keeping it from gaining more momentum.
Sony can't afford to cut the price right now....wouldn't really be financially smart...
The price will be cut one day. Everyone knows this. Now when it does, the Vita WILL pick up momentum. Now I am not sure when is the right time to cut price.
We need new games and not a price cut.
It needs both a price cut and great games, $250 for that device is too much. Sure sony will lose some money, but the opposite is worse where they don't get it into more hands, for people to buy games. Selling games is where sony make their money through license fees.
"250 for that device is too much" wut? thats retarded, sure thing is 99$ for 32gb mem card is in fact too much, they should drop it between 69-75$, but the console itself...hell no. the price for such a device is perfect, if you dont agree then go do something else with your money since you are simply out of touch.
Didn't it launch like two months ago and E3 is around the corner so we should wait and see if it deserve a price cut.
Quality Software sells hardware.
I need Bethesda to put a Fallout game on it, and I'll buy it at whatever the price is now. I thought the UC game was going to have online, but it didn't happen. All it needs is a killer app for it but imo it doesn't so, a price cut is what's needed--imo of course...
It'll be a combination of proper price strategy, decent selection of titles all executed on the correct time.
They probably can considering the sales they get from the memory cards and by it being profitable to Sony from day one despite earlier articles like Andisang that claimed it didn't. Source: http://playstationlifestyle... I think will see it happen come E3 this year.
It just needs a high profile, very popular title. Software sells hardware. We all know a CoD game is coming for the Vita. Like it or loath it, that will shift a ton of units.
The Vita is a heck of a piece of hardware for 250. A price cut now would be dumb. Lower the price on mem cards and just put some marketing and more games behind it and we're golden.
Double post but I'll make use of and it say that I was wrong about the pricecut, the 3DS did take a lost when it cut it's prices. My bad, NYC.
They should cut the price of the memory cards.
A wider variety of games need to be released, and I also think that they need to hurry up and get all PS1 classics working on it. I'm enjoying my Vita, but seriously, it needs more software.
I agree, except PS1 classics should have been there Day 1, better PSP compatibility, and more non gaming apps would help too. Even 3DS e-shop had productivity apps too.
There was no 3DS eshop. I had to wait months for the 3DS store.
@FriedGoat True but still its there now. Sony needs to hurry things along, to as they say get the ball rolling....
More software would be good, but to be honest, I already have a backlog. Need to beat: Gravity Daze Unit 13 Motorstorm RC (which is a lot of fun)
ps1 and ps2 classics. i like the vita cause i know it will get better. the waiting is bs though
The price is perfectly fine. For the technology, it is actually underpriced. Once E3 unveils more games, and more features are enabled, I'm sure it will pick up pace.
Cut price... that is always the gamers solution to any hardware related issue. If Sony cuts price there will be ramifications down the road. Think about the PS3 for example... Sony needed to cut the price sooner than they wanted and to do that "features" began to disappear from the "newer" models. I would rather see Sony try and get through a full year before they look to cut... give the Vita a real holiday season first.
Christmas isn't a real holiday season........
Nov thru Dec is a major holiday selling season... It was only available in Japan during that time
@Dlacy13g So did it sell well in Japan during November through December............. NO, oh and if you going to say Japan doesn't celebrate Christmas your wrong, Christmas is also their major holiday shopping season.
I regret buying my Vita, The lack of games or even any news regarding monster hunter is very disheartening.
I bought my vita release day (less than 2 months ago) and i own 4 games and have several psp games loaded up on my system Im loving it and only have 3 complaints 1 is the lack of multiplayer shooters available and 2 is the lack of ps1 support 3 is the lack of ps+ support With that being said we were told this before launch and if you bought a vita knowing this then you have no right to complain i repeat if you bought a vita you have no right complain about the lack of games
I agree, I only have 2 games at the moment but is filling my time just fine, once LBPVita is out I will be settled for ages anyway. But the PS1 classics need to be there soon, I really want to fire up some old FF on my Vita. As for PS+, I think we are going to get it, But right now they need to make money off the software, and with the size of the current library PS+ would probably lose them a lot of money right now
Agree. I would like PS1 support though. Not essential, but would be nice.
i have it and i am not bored of it! im playing unit 13 , monster hunter freedom unite 2 and ninja gaiden, keeping me entertained for 4 weeks now
Im not complaining. I played Unit 13 but the co-op was garbage. Clearing a mission in co-op doesnt make it cleared ? I would buy the psp games but i had them all on my original psp. My bro made me buy it to play unit 13 with him. I regret buying it day one, I should have waited and got it packaged with a game I really want.
We need deent games now not price cuts has anyone seen this years pre-order for vita dismall i want games. Were arevall these games that devs saying that doing somert for the vita.
We need deent games WTF is deent " blasted touchpad"
No, I already bought mine what is the point of wanting a price drop? I want to play Skull girls on my Vita, how bout that?
Im waiting till christmis
Yes. In November.
Drop memory card prices. Not the actual system price.
As soon as the price is cut by $50, i'll run down and buy it. Right now, an initial investment would total $315 with a Wifi system, 4GB memory card, and a cheaper game. And I'm not getting a free cradle or any pack in games like I did with my 3DS. There's another $20 leading to $335. I really want a Vita especially after playing one at Gamestop, but t took alot to convince myself to buy a 3DS and after spending on that $335 is way too much.
I was gonna say something, but instead I'll refer you to Unexpecta's post right below yours. Or the first line, anyway: The Playstation Vita is NOT the Nintendo 3DS.
I was comparing the value of the two because the 3DS comes with more, not like I'm saying they're the same thing. They're both the next generations of portable consoles and that's what people do is compare them. Sorry, but someone who's only argument is that the PS Vita is NOT the 3DS shouldn't be talking. I don't care if they're not the same thing. If they're both game consoles of the same generation they're gonna be compared so get over yourself. That's like saying,"Well the PS3 is NOT a Xbox 360 so don't compare them!" Really? Where is the logic in that? And just because it's Nintendo doesn't make a difference.
Unfortunately, I have to agree. I think the Vita is actually a steal at $250 considering what you get, however, It will be at least $350 with everything I want out the door. I have to buy a new gaming/work laptop/pc first, so I will just wait things out. Also, I JUST got a PSP and it has about 100 amazing games I haven't played yet.
Actually, the argument "The Playstation Vita is NOT the Nintendo 3DS," is very valid. They are two VERY different handheld consoles. The PSV is over 9000 levels higher and on a different plane of existence than the 3DS which cannot even keep pace with the PSV's capabilities. All I have to say is that Nintendo failed pretty bad with this generation of handhelds, and their 3DS hardware is a spit on the face to Nintendo fans. I'd never waste my money on garbage. The Nintendo 3DS is truly garbage and a step back in time, people who have bought it like you 'TechnicalWorld' are simply, just fools.
I'm not saying they're not very different pieces of technology but my point was that they are both the next generation of handheld consoles and they are going to be compared. Their pricing, games, features and everything else is going to be compared. And a step back in time? I didn't realise 3D worked without glasses in the past. You saying it's a step back in time and garbage shows how much of a moron and a fanboy you are. You defend the Vita because it's different yet because the 3DS is different it's garbage. It has lots of great features with more coming soon with the Nintendo Network and even more ready to be announced if Nintendo chooses to do so. The only thing the 3DS loses out on is amazing graphics but it also has the 3D effect so you lose from one end and gain from another. I'm sorry you wasted your time sounding like an idiot.
The Playstation Vita is NOT the Nintendo 3DS. A price cut for a supreme piece of hardware that has been engineered by Sony's finest is unnecessary for a gaming handheld like the PSV. Where as in Nintendo's case, the products that they pump out currently are feeble to an extent that you just don't want to belong. I still can't believe that the 3DS launched at $250, and I'm sorry for the people who wasted their money then and now on that garbagio. The reason why the 3DS had a price drop is because it's weak. In the other case, the next best handheld is the PSVita which is strong, and only it's memory cards deserve a price drop.
lol people buy iphone so i dont know whats the point
it's all about timing, and now wouldn't be good. . Either at E3, especially if they announce some big titles, or when CoD comes out.
Price is fine, just give it a few JRPG's
Yes the need a price cut, that's why they're not selling. They need some better games too.
The console..no...but the memory cards..yes... If people are willing to buy new versions of iphone and ipad which come out every year and costs much more than 250 or 300, then why can't they afford a vita...? If you have an ipad2 why would get an ipad3 i mean sure it will look better but essentially is the same device.
Nah, $250 is the sweet spot for the PS Vita. Just release more great games for the system, advertise, and a future price drop and Sony is good!
I pretty much agree with you, but a price drop in a few months or so to $199 feels about right. Also, if they are to leave it at $250 for a while, they would actually have to advertise it CORRECTLY.
New games at a cheaper price and I'm done.
The only thing I want is PSOne classics and more PSP support. Seriously, this device is a BEAST at $250. The PSP was the same price at it's launch, nobody really complained. Now the Vita comes along, a FAR more powerful and feature packed piece of tech, at $250 and everyone goes crazy. "Bu-bu-but the 3DS had a price drop....." NEWS FLASH: That device is not worth $250 despite it being good hardware.
The only reason people are complaining now is because it's a MUCH different market now with smart phones and everything else. People don't want to spend that much anymore. And I think the memory cards and $50 games hurt it even worse. Although with the quality of the games I can see what they were thinking.
Need a price cut console and memory. Need many AAA titles, not port!!
Little Big Planet Uncharted Modnation Racers Resistance Rayman: Origins And that's thinking off of the top of my head. If those don't count as AAA titles I don't know what do, and I don't even own the Vita yet. Do agree with price cut though. By Christmas I think it will have one.
It say, you stop talking like caveman. It say learn some proper English. Seriously learn some proper English because many times when you troll like this you make yourself look stupid. XperiaRay
