Some Video Games Are Better Without Music

Kotaku: I think it goes without saying that I love music in video games. But not all games require a soundtrack, and in fact, some games that have a soundtrack are better without it. (Fallout: New Vegas, PC, PS3, Red Dead Redemption, Xbox 360)

I agree completely.

Open world games with a strong atmosphere (with many environmental cues you might normally miss with music playing) do not need soundtracks going all the time.

I do still appreciate music during cutscenes or emotional moments.

I remember turning off the music in Dragon Ball Z Budokai 3 and it was a whole diferent experience its quite interesting doing things like that.

All games should enable the player to mute the music/ost completly imo.

Most games work better with music in my opinion. Its what helps make the game more memorable.
