Fans Still Aren’t Satisfied With Bioware Giving An Extended Ending To Mass Effect 3
Jalen Bell of iGG says: I hope humans discover mass relays very soon because I really don’t want to live on this planet anymore. A poll on the official Bioware forums indicates that some fans still aren’t happy.
(Mass Effect 3, PC, PS3, Xbox 360)
You've got to be kidding. They're lucky Bioware hasn't simply moved on to their next project. People are such whiners.
If you don't like the ending then power to you, but... seriously, is this really worth all of this effort? It's a goddamn video game for goodness' sake.
I know, right? And these people know for a FACT that with or without this DLC, they would still buy Bioware's next Mass Effect game if they were to release one.
Idiots. It's good that they are adding more, and for free, for anyone that wanted a little more from the ending, but people who want it completely rewritten, especially before seeing Bioware's changes, are just flat out stupid. People that stupid shouldn't be catered to.
I don't think people wanted the ended extended, I think they wanted it redone. So by doing this EA isn't really appeasing the people who were complaining.
And really this whole mess is a testament to the quality that fans expect from Bioware. Honestly, they should sort of take this as 1) a twisted sort of compliment, and 2) a wake up call.
If they wanted the ending redone, then they are idiots, and like I said, shouldn't be catered to. I mean, really, rewriting an ending!?
Bad ending or not, it's an absolutely ridiculous request. If you wish it was different, that's a perfectly valid opinion, but to demand a creator completely scrap something because you don't like it and start from scratch on it is just absurd.
Why don't we go demand they redo Matrix Reloaded and Revolutions because people didn't like them as much as the original. Why don't we ask WWE to redo Wrestlemania because we didn't like who won. Let's redo the ending of Lost because Hurley's numbers weren't explained.
I've been listening to everyone who disagreed with me about the ending. I didn't think it was good, but I didn't think Bioware had any obligation to change it, and I certainly didn't think the rhetoric of "retaking" it was at all proper. There WERE some pretty good arguments. But now I know a good chunk of those people are just immature and ungrateful. The idea that this is some trick to get more money out of us, by releasing free, I repeat, FREE, dlc is nutso. And I'm not listening to any more of it.
It's like Ninja Theory and the Devil May Cry reboot. Nothing they can say or do will please you at this point, so stop acting like it's even a possibility. And stop acting like Bioware works for you. You bought. Their game. They shouldn't have to answer for crap. You could have waited a few weeks to see the fan's reaction, if you were that concerned about it. But you didn't. You, and damn near a million people made the risk buying it early. It didn't pay off at the very end. Tough. Crap. Time to grow up and move on with your life instead of lingering on it.
I feel u bro but in the end it all comes down to the question "did u get ur moneys worth?" if the consumer doesnt think so, they then have the right to run down the product as much as they want since they spent $$$ on it. i played the demo and was gonna buy the game till i heard this shit about the ending. it made me want to buy it on amazon becuase i heard they were giving out full refunds to people who returned it due to bad ending lol. i dont think they are any more, but now idk if i want the game cuz i dont wanna play hours and hours of a good game to just get pissed at the end. IJS
It's the journey that matters, not the last 10 minutes. There's some 30-40 hours worth of great gameplay in there, so to ignore that just because of the final 10 minutes is just silly.
People should focus their attention on good upcoming games instead. I've accepted that BioWare ruined their grand finale, have proven that they will relentlessly lie to sell a game, and are likely on a decline that will end with EA dissolving their name like all the others they've helped to implode. It was sweet while it lasted, crushing when it fell flat on its face as it ended, but I'm over it.
I compared this to Metal Gear in a post over on their forums because I've held the Mass Effect series in such high regards, that I considered them to be on the same tier in terms of my love and passion for them as gaming franchises. The difference is that Kojima, when tasked with ending Solid Snake's arc, developed a masterpiece that stayed a masterpiece until the very end. BioWare sputtered and burned when it came time to do the same for Shepard. There's a reason why I have woken up before dawn just to wait in line for hours to shake Kojima's hand and get his autograph. I would never do the same for Casey Hudson.
I honestly wouldn't mind if they built upon the indoctrination ending and just filled in the big holes all over the place. Of course I want EXCLUSIVE closure for every character/race as well.
As a gamer of 30+ years I was happy to even have an ending, let alone five variations on the same one(different colors). This is going to sound like an old man speech, like "When I was your age!" I would play a cartridge based RPG that was so long that it had to have a built battery to cache your saves and after the epic boss battle you simply received a "GAME OVER...Thanks For Playing!" Afterwords I would simply move on to the next game. I didn't phone the 1-800 number and threaten to burn Square,Nintendo or Japan to the ground for a lousy ending to an epic and I was eight years old, so I hear the rantings of these self entitled twenty somethings, an realize that they will never know how good we have it.
I think these fans are too "emotionally" attached to the game. While I understand why they whine some of the things they've done has made me ashame to be a fan of biowares games.
Main reason these people need to stop whining about is because of the homophobic comments. They didn't seem to have a problem with the lesbian scenes so why do they have a problem with 2 men in a bed? Don't like it don't watch it, if it disgusts you then f*uck OFF.
Yeh but it's like saying "if gaming journalists don't side with me I'll dislike them even if an individual writer sticks with his OWN OPINION". Its a little childish tbh.
The extended ending will clarify what actually happened, and provide additional closure for fans. Those were the two main requests for the ending, on which all the fans agreed. So to keep as many people as possible happy, those are the things that will be fixed.
people keep bashing each other, flaming topics all over the place, insults to both members and developers, seriously it is a royal mess.
If you don't like the ending then power to you, but... seriously, is this really worth all of this effort? It's a goddamn video game for goodness' sake.
Gamers.
Generally speaking, the gaming community just needs to stfu sometimes and get a grip on reality.

Besides, there's nothing wrong with gay people. It's fine that you're not gay, but there's nothing wrong with the people who are.
The gaming media has only provoked the situation....
BioWare can do what they want.
Fans can react however they want.
See what i did there?
You don't belong here.
Why?
Because the ending is still bad. So fans are going to get an EXTENDED bad ending.
How does that fix anything? lol
