THQ won't be around in six months,' says Take-Two CEO Zelnick

joystiq:THQ's strategy was licensed properties, first and foremost. License stuff from other people, whether it's UFC or WWE or a motion picture property, and make a game around that," Zelnick said, noting Take-Two hasn't had the best year either, but it has had a good five-year run. "And our approach, since we took over the company, is 100 percent owned intellectual property."

THQ= a dead company because of bad business decisions.

someone will prob pick up the saints row, darksiders and WWE franchise. they ruined the WWE games for a while now and i think red faction series is finished

Just ripped this from Wikipedia, so there's a list of projects that could be directly affected if something did happen to THQ.

Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War III (Windows)
Darksiders II (PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Wii U, Windows)
South Park: The Game (Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Windows)
WWE '13 (Xbox 360, Wii, PlayStation 3)
Unannounced Game (Wii U, Wii, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Nintendo 3DS)
Unannounced Game (Wii U)

inSANE (PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Windows)
Devil's Third (PlayStation 3, Wii U, Xbox 360)
Metro: Last Light (Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Windows, Wii U)
Unannounced Turtle Rock game (Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Windows, Wii U)

I think if they actually tried to make WWE games good they would have lasted, but they stuck with same pattern over and over. Its not Madden and people are not glueded to it in the same sense.

Moncole2179d ago

Darksiders 2 is coming out soon, I hope that helps them out a lot.

If anyone buys them it should be Take-Two

NYC_Gamer2179d ago

I would take T2 buy them instead of greedy publishers like EA&Activision...

DeadlyFire2178d ago (Edited 2178d ago )

I agree I wouldn't mind seeing WWE 2k13. Might actually play well for a change.

Red Faction could be thrown into the Rockstar mix of games.

Other titles would likely be mixed in as well if bought. I don't see a negative from a Take Two buy. I hope what happened to Midway doesn't happen to THQ. Random person buys company, then auctions it all in less than a year and makes millions. Not bad for the person, but franchises would possibly be diced around to everyone if that were the case.

slavish2179d ago

i hope someone picks up there franchises. I feel sorry for the works who will lose there jobs to bad management who will leave rich!

Captain Qwark 92178d ago

maybe not if gamers stop being retards and pick up darksiders 2. if it were to acheive the millions of sales it deserves, they may be alright.....

oh wait, thats right everyone is gonna save for the next cod while series like demon/dark souls, the witcher 2, darksiders, rayman origins, etc....all get mediocre sales at best

oh then they're all gonna sit there and complain that the only games available are cods, battlefields, and halos....

smashman982178d ago

The only one there that sold poorly was rayman everything else im sure broke the million range

Captain Qwark 92178d ago

true but im talking millions in sales. 1 million is good but not very impressive considering the quality of the titles

STK0262178d ago

I hope not; while not all critically acclaimed, I liked all 3 saints rows, RF Armageddon and Guerilla, WWE 12 and yes, even Homefront. Darksiders was also a very nice game. THQ has published some very entertaining games this generation, a nice shift form the movie tie-in THQ we knew a few years ago, it saddens me to see that the latter was probably more successful though.
