Major Sonic reboot coming in 2014?

SEGA may be planning on launching a major overhaul of its Sonic The Hedgehog series in 2014.

probably, all they need to do is make it old school, with an actual good story and challenging game-play. add 1 other feature to make it unique and give it graphics that are maybe cell shaded, lastly take out the homing shit becuase that makes it too easy and done, reboot successful.

I'd be happy with a full retail game that is exactly like sonic 4: episode 1, but faster and more fluid, longer, with fire lightning and water bubbles, with tails and knuckles, without the homing attack and with original levels and bosses. I have hope for episode 2, I guess. Episode 1 was good, but it didn't feel like a sequel to Sonic 3 + Knuckles. Felt more like a remake of sonic 1.

I don't know why they didn't do Sonic 4 as a full retail game instead of spilting it up into episodes. It's insulting for a sequel to the classic megadrive games to get that sort of treatment. Thats why I'm waiting untill all the episodes are out, maybe they'll do a retail special edition version.

I don't think it's dead, they just need to go back and play sonic 1, 2 and 3 and then bring that good stuff into their new games.

lets be honest here the xbox and ps3 ones haven't been good at all. what was the best sonic game to come in a while.... Sonic Colors which is only for the wii. it just seems to me that nintendo working with SEGA on sonic is just better for the franchise

No. Sonic Generations was just a remake and reimaging of all the old Sonic games including Colors. Sonic Colors was an entirely original game built from the ground up. Despite the latency in the controls, it was hailed as the best Sonic game since CD and Adventure.

@Shaun. Stop stating your opinions as facts. I believe Sonic generations was better, also as for Sonic colours being "hailed as the best sonic game ect..." am i right in thinking Sonic generations came AFTER colors so that title is debatable. And as for it being a remake and re imagining of the old games yes, it was. But dont make out like it was a lazy port it was completely re-done levels some that went from entirely 2D to entirely 3D.

As long as they do what they did with Sonic Generations when it came to gameplay, and GET RID of all the useless side characters that really shouldn't be around anymore (Shadow, Silver, the Chaotix team, Blaze, etc.) I'll be 100% behind this.
