Eurogamer: An investor has spent a staggering $2.5 million on a plot of virtual real estate in real money sci-fi MMO Entropia Universe.
Oh my God... This is the... How the hell do you... .........This takes the cake for the epitome of idiocy right here. I'm sorry, it does... It just does...
I play the game from time to time and it is an investment that is actually worth it. Any shops or hunting that goes on, on that property gives the owner a percentage. Also, there is a weekly income for owning it. I know someone who spent 1.8 million and makes over 50,000 dollars a month, just off the weekly income.
Its not a good investment at all for normal ppl with lives. Prob only a handful of rich nerds can actually make money off of this game that way. Even so at the rate your friend is going it will take him about 3 years to see that money back and start making a profit, that is to say if this trash game is still around. Most of the other ppl that play and don't spend hundreds of thousands or even millions of dollars, most likely lose money. Its like anything else it takes money to make money. And you know what its still a terrible investment for some one with that kind of money. Investing $2.5mil in something real can make you alot more money if done right.
This "trash" game has been going for 9 years. I have always made more than I put into it. You just have to be smart and not waste your money on shit you don't need in the game. The guy that spent 2.5 million probably makes around 100,000 dollars a month. Don't talk shit about something you don't play. Besides, the game is completely free to play. You don't have to invest any money into to make money. Granted it would take a lot longer to get anywhere, but I have friends who have never invested anything and have a bunch of stuff.
Most of the comments i read about this game suggest that the average player loses money. Plus if their is one guy making $100,000 a month on this game and its free to play where the hell is the money coming from? one guy making $100,000 a month means alot of other ppl losing money. Even after everything its still a much better investment to put that 2.5 mil elsewhere.
So this is the video game that Oprah Winfrey, Warren Buffet, and Bill Gates play! So who ever bought it is looking to profit over 675K their first year after recouping their initial $2.5m investment. Add in inflation and they will easily profit over $2 million a year and then turn around and sell it for 65% more than what they paid for it. Easy Money!
...dear lord I'm the doctor gave this investor some good stuff if you know what I mean lol
WTF is up with this game? I never hear anything about it until someone buys or sells a huge chunk of it. If it wasn't for these huge purchases, I wouldn't even know that game existed.
A worthwhile investment is a car, tv, home ect. I love video games, but wtf. 2.5 million real dollars for a digital landscape in some stupid mmo, sounds like a rich man or woman that never had to work a day in their life. People like this make me glad i wasn't born into a rich family. No common sense or practicality when it comes to money.
He invested that money because he will make those 2.5mil back eventually and then some. It's not like he bought it cause he had extra cash laying around.
A car is not an investment. Unless it is an older car that has gained value and you restore it and even then profits off of that aren't always the best. Homes are a terrible investment at the moment. TV's are not an investment. Try selling a used TV for more than what you bought it for. I think you need to look up the definition of investment.
