Wiiloveit.com: Mario Party 9 - Wii Review

"Whether you did or you didn't think the series needed to do full backflip, many figured Mario Party 8 would mark the end for the franchise. So when Mario Party 9 was revealed last year, I was in stunned silence. This surprise move gave me renewed hope that, regardless of how off everyone felt Mario Party 8 was in the grander scheme, the long hiatus would prove beneficial. Sure enough, Nintendo took active measures to produce such drastic changes in the formula that you'll be hard-pressed to accuse them of wanting to beat a dead horse. Because of all this back and forth conflict between wanting change and not wanting it, Mario Party 9 is very much the kind of game you need to settle in with. Even just with myself, I've honestly never been this conflicted over a game in quite some time. Nevertheless, I'm confident that those who try Mario Party 9 are very likely to develop a huge love/hate relationship towards the game's design choices." -- Wiiloveit.com (Mario Party 9, Wii) 70/100
