Rumored Next-Gen Details Likely Hogwash

The internet rumor mill is at it again, perpetuating absurd and unfounded speculation concerning the next generation of video game consoles. It’s always the same story; some vague and dubious “source,” close to the project, said “blah-be-da-blah-blah-blah.”

Two of the most popular rumors right now, which have gamers up in arms, are how the new consoles by Sony and Microsoft won’t support used games, and will require an “always-on” internet connection.

You've got to remember, many of these "rumors" are coming from sources who have their own agendas. Some are good, but most are bad / black PR.

My Grandmas friends uncle that works at Gamestop in the middle of no where isn't a good source?! Who knew....

lol

It's not even that. The most egregious offenders are a couple of pretty big game sites. I won't mention names specifically - but I don't really think that I have to. heh.

Rumors are rumors but whatever happened to source checking and good journalism?

izumo_lee4403d ago

That died long ago! All it is now is sensationalism just for the sake of hits for the site. There are a few good sites but they are outnumbered by useless blogs & sites that only care about traffic.

Wigriff4403d ago

While the shoddy, pseudo-journalism in question is a problem, it is allowed to propagate through the same means as sub-par films.

People constantly complain about how Hollywood makes nothing but crap, but people like Michael Bay wouldn't keep rolling out garbage if people didn't continue to go see it. It's preposterous to complain about how bad something is if you continue to support it.

Well, look at the typical "top 10" on N4G, and it often reveals the same pattern. The whole reason that these sites in question produce the sensationalist crap that they do is because they know it WILL get hits. Even if people troll the article, and recognize it for what it is, that still supports it. Hits are hits.

There are some real quality sites out there still, that concentrate much more on content rather than generating an empty population - and that is what sensationalism brings in. Most of these sites aren't building a community, or any real fanbase - just empty numbers to fuel their CPM campaigns.

EKWB reportedly plagued with financial disarray many gaming pc's left without parts

EK Cooling allegedly has slipped itself into a hot soup of seemingly endless financial woes, where it has not paid its staff, suppliers, and contractors for many months as the company is facing liquidity problems and a surplus of inventory left unsold, stuck in the warehouse for a more extended period. Gamers Nexus investigated these claims made by former and current personnel, where he found trails of unpaid bills lasting as long as three to four months and unpaid raises that accumulated for almost a year.

EK Water Blocks has two entities—a Slovenian-based headquarters and a US-based subsidiary, EK Cooling Solutions. Steve narrated the series of events in detail, stating that the company was reportedly irresponsible and negligent regarding payment. Consequently, partners and employees are forced to share the burden of alleged mismanagement. It all begins with its extensive range of products, leading to a surplus of goods. EK has over 230 water blocks, 40 liquid cooling kits, 85 reservoirs, 40 pumps, 73 radiators, and 212 miscellaneous accessories.

Yes this is not about video games directly but indirectly this will impact the pc gaming/workstation space hard.

This company is massive one of two in the water cool space so if it goes poof then thousands out there have no spare parts or half built computers.

SO yeah i know not about a video game but think of it as amd leaving the pc space but this is ekwb that could be leaving water cooling in the pc space

Jayz2cents a supporter of there products also has issues

As someone that has built a watercooling rig. EK is big, but there's so many numerous watercooling part companies out there. EK's stuff isn't exactly amazing quality for the price compared to others either, it's just ok. Much like Corsair. The impact would be negligible long term. For perspective the majority of my parts are XSPC, at most I use EK for my gpu waterblocks and fittings. Both easily replaceable.
