The Street Fighter X Tekken competition that brought despicable behavior to light

"As part of their promotion for Street Fighter X Tekken, prolific game developer and publisher Capcom funded a reality show called Cross Assault, where competitive Street Fighter and Tekken players earn their chance at $25,000. It only took one episode of the show for a female competitor, Miranda "Super_Yan" Pakozdi to be inundated with lewd sexual comments from the live-chat, fellow competitors, and even from her own coach, Aris Bakhtanians, a well known champion of the fighting-game community. She went on to forfeit the match and lost her chance at advancing."

The story is too old to be commented.

I remember reading about this several weeks ago. Hell, one article they link is from Feb 28th and the other is March 1st... Curious how it took them a month to write this.

Its a FIGHTING GAME! Boys will be boys. I play pretty much nothing but fighters allday and me and my crew talk so much shit that sometimes it causes a fight. But we all still have fun playing together. If a woman decides to play a competative game against men then she should be ready for insults and jokes( even sexual ones). With 25k one the line i would talk so much shit to my opponents just to get a edge. If a woman wants to play with boys then i suggest she be prepared for the barrage of sexual jokes to come.

My sentiments exactly. I don't think they truly wanna be equal. They just want equality whenever convenient and special rights to avoid the consequences it comes with. It's the princess syndrome in effect.

So wanting to be treated with respect is "wanting special rights" or "princess syndrome"?? WTF?? If a lady is uncomfortable with how she is being treated by somebody, then that's her right. That's ANYBODY's right. Nobody should have to put up with being sexually harassed. It's gross that there are people defending the guy who did it, or saying that hs behavior is just a part or gaming. I'm a gamer and I don't harass other gamers due to their gender. I don't know anybody who does. I think it's damn sad that there are people who think this guy's behavior is acceptable. He's just making us all look bad.

There is a big difference between trash-talking and sexual harassment. If you can't tell the difference, or if you think it's ok to harass another gamer because of their gender, then you're the one with the problem. Not the person who complains about it.
