RAGE PC - The rumored high resolution texture pack won't get released... ever

DSOGaming writes: "With the recent news of an upcoming RAGE surprise, a lot of PC gamers started wondering whether they’d be getting that rumored high resolution texture pack or not. Well, it appears that there wasn’t any such texture pack to begin with, as John Carmack has revealed that most of the source art isn’t at higher resolution, therefore there can’t be a high-resolution texture pack for it." On its own basis the game didn't fail. Although in the term of hype it did fail judging to people.

I doubt anyone actually judged this game on its own basis, which is the fault of "modern day journalism".

Yeah sadly the game looked amazing on the trailers, and then half the things we saw were cut.

If that had just delivered what they showed the game would've been much better received, but instead they cut out content, ALOT of it too.

It failed so bad they put Doom 4 on hold to rethink it. I would say that is a failure of sorts. Or a wake up call in the very least.

Lolz, Doom4 didn't go on hold, the graphics problems were AMD's not id's.

It was a pretty crappy game. The graphics were spotty at best (with fantastic animations though) and the story was as lame as they come.

The gameplay? well nothing we haven't done a million times before.

The animation of it rocks. The visuals are pretty good, until you turn your character around and the textures pop in a half second later

Lolz, people don't know half the news.

Carmack said the source textures aren't much sharper, and it wouldn't help as much as people think.

Also, the graphics are fine, the game looks amazing when you're not busy crying at the un-crispy textures.
