Serellan Hits Their $200,000 Goal

Is there a demand for hardcore, tactical shooters in today’s market? Christian Allen posed that question to the entire gaming industry with “TAKEDOWN” on Kickstarter.com. Supporters from all corners of the platform world united to make their voices known. In the final days leading up to the April 1, 2012 deadline, the pledges began to snowball as the gaming industry took notice of what Christian Allen was trying to accomplish... (Dev, PC, PS3, Serellan, Xbox 360)

Gamers unite! Nice seeing enthusiasts and old heads get together to make games that they want to play (Guys were tired of COD).

This is a game I've been waiting for for years. Old Rainbow Six/Ghost Recon games, SWAT 4, were all some of my favorite shooters growing up. Good thing Christian revamped it or I would have never heard about it. Kickstarter is the f'in sh!t!!!

But to spend money BEFORE the game is even created? I'd personally never do that, unless it was an investment. You never know how it will turn out. This indie studio has a total of zero games. I don't care if the lead designer created a game that spits out bars of gold and hookers; we know nothing about his team.

Creating attention by pooping on COD isn't usually a good sign. Remember how BulletStorm made fun of a whole bunch of things that COD did, and then did them itself?

$200K because they said "COD sucks.....tactical shooters, yay".....that's quite a feat. Fools and their money...

I guess if you can get people to just HAND money over instead of getting funding (which would have been easy with his credentials), you may as well.

It was $15 to get a digital copy of the game when it's completed. I'm sure most people won't be wallet-raped.

Oh, stop thinking how ridiculous it is, and start asking yourself, whether or not, you believe it's going to work. That's why it is called "leap of faith", Jack... I mean SilentNegotiator.

Robert Bowling made a $7,500 pledge. Good for him. I made a $50 pledge yesterday.

Hopefully this lives up to R6 Rogue Spear, Raven Shield, and SWAT series or better.

Modern R6 has taken steps away from tactical genre.

The view discussion on the page mades me wonder though. First person on PC, 3rd person on PS3, Whatever community decides for X360 version. Sounds like might not be as good as I hope, but never know. Can't hurt to watch this now that it is funded though.

AMAZING, Thank you to everyone who stepped up at the last minute to push this project past its goal. And to all the backers who were there the entire time working hard to spread the word. I know spamming forums doesnt make you popular. haha.

I cant wait for this game.

This is AMAZING. I haven't really enjoyed a shooter game in years. Everything has been watered down, and made to appeal to casual players. There's nothing wrong with that, but there still needs to be more hardcore games for those of us who are into that. There are enough of us that it's going to be profitable, as we proved here.

Finally another shooter for us hardcore tactical fans

No real interest in this game, but I'm glad people that did have an interest pushed it over it's goal funding amount.

Hahaha, this is fantastic news! I checked two days ago and it only had half of the goal. Great job to everyone who pledged! Now I must kick myself in the balls because I didn't have the money to myself.

I'm sooo happy this made it. Admittedly, I was a little leery at first because they seemed kinda slow and sketchy on details about system availability, and for this I didn't pledge as intended. But after seeing late that it will be available for all HD machines (PC included), I hate that I passed on my contributions. The game made it nevertheless, and I will show any support I can as the game progresses through its developmental stages. Really good news for console gamers looking desperately for a (presumably) ArmA-like fix.
Kudos. Couldn't express that enough.

Yes!! This is awesome... I would have been very sad if they didn't even get the chance to try to make this game.

I really hope they take the give it both third and first person view like early Socoms, not to mention a breach and demo mode....
