The psp sales are also higher with vgc than media create, and the 3ds, wii, ps3 and 360 sales are lower in vgc than MC. (360 by a respectively wide margin.)
But I do suppose this is within the margin of error.
Conversely, the Sega Genesis was huge in the U.S., while it barely made any waves in Japan. Sega actually licensed some of their top games to NEC to put on the PC Engine because the Genesis (Mega drive in Japan) was so unpopular there.
