Missed Movie Licensing Opportunities Of 2007

From godawful schlock like Balls of Fury for the Wii and Fantastic 4: Rise of the Silver Surfer for just-about-everything to phoned-in, barely adequate fare like Beowulf and Ratatouille, 2007 wasn't a banner year for movie licensed games. Some, like Transformers: The Movie and 300 for the PSP, performed just well enough to not be embarrassments for buyers, but 2007 was filled with missed opportunities that could have made great games out of great movies.

Kotaku's Michael McWhertor picked five of his favorite candidates for Missed Movie Licensing Opportunities Of 2007.

The story is too old to be commented.

Nice find and article but one huge film is missing:
Shoot Em Up. Seriously, that film WAS a game.

Planet Terror game would have been really awesome though.

I never saw Shoot 'Em Up. I thought it was going to be like Smokin' Aces (which I didn't really enjoy much). Is it any good?

That chopper part in 28 Weeks Later reminded me a lot of Dead Rising so that could actually make a pretty cool game.

name one Movie to Game that was not a piece of garbage and did not horribly bomb????just one

@MK_Red.................Wow good one........I completely forgot about Riddick......I just wish the success rate and quality of these games were more up to par

@desolationstorm........ok ill give you golden-eye also, but only the original N64 one......The rest are crap

@heyheyhey ........I think the Godfather game was pathetic compared to the game "Mafia" it was way more well executed

Riddick: Escape from Butcher Bay is one. It is easily one of the best FPS games of all time. It was released for PC and Xbox. The remake is coming for PS3, 360 and PC.

Also, lets not forget about King Kong and Scarface as decent movie based games.

desolationstorm3578d ago

Yeah I would have to agree riddick was and might be the best one. Also king kong wasnt great but I enjoyed it and a lot more then I enjoyed the film.

I think a reason why riddick turned out so well is because it wasnt based on the movies it was part of the story.

Also are you forgetting Goldeneye?

heyheyhey3578d ago

yep scarface was great also spiderman 2 was considered to be pretty good because it was fun to swing around in a nicely rendered new york and some of the story missions didnt suck that much, godfather was ok too

MK_Red3578d ago

Agreed on GoldenEye as well as Spidey 2. Not so much agreed on Godfather. Didn't like it.
I'd also add Genesis/SNES' Toy Story as well as last year's decent Cars game.

Anyone seen I am legend? that would be a great game. Reminded me a lot of silent hill (the game). There were a lot of other scenes that would be good for a FPS. Like the hunting and going through the dark house.
