"I'm not trying to design around what I think people will want."
This sentence alone makes him bad dev. To succeed, you need to cater to target demography and design around what people will want. When there's demand, there's window of opportunity to provide supply.
Well, he said he doesn't care about DMC fanbase(people who bought, loved, and made DMC popular) and is going Call of Duty and Mass Effect way.

Does that make him bad businessman, bad game developer and a bad person in overall?
DMC could be easily made to cater to both hardcore gamers and mainstream consumers without betraying anyone and raping anything.

When he said that Dante is different than him he mentions "He's MALE".
Yeah, Dante is male, and that's why a non-male shouldn't direct the game :p

Anyway, Bionic Commando, Resident Evil given to Western devs failed.
Dead Rising 2 was undoubtely worse than Dead Rising 1 and DmC will be crap.
See the trend?

There's a part of the Western gaming Community that like the Japanese attitude of games.
Bastardize that attitude ends up badly. For everyone involved. Period.
Capcom is to blame for taking a stupid decision.
And Ninja Theory are simply not skilled enough.

Final thing...running away from Bayonetta is what every Devil May Cry fan feared.
He confirmed every fear.

I don't know about you guys, but I'm bookmarking this one so I can come back to it and laugh even harder when DmC flops.

"Devil, Angel, Pioneer"
None of the above.

Disagrees? Either someone really thinks he's one of the above or this dude made multiple accounts on n4g.

"Take that! This is my game! I'm Dante now!"

360GamerFG2130d ago

This guy wants us to believe that the resemblance the new Dante bears to him is coincidental?? Come on, just look at him, he's always wanted to be a character in a popular video game and DmC was his opportunity

"Philosophically, the way to make a successful game is to believe in what you're doing, then hope that sales follow. I'm not trying to design around what I think people will want" in a way i wish more devs thought like that. why do devs think that us fans wan't to play fucking COD all the time and casualizing our games we grew to love or adding multiplayer to games that don't need it when they were perfectly fine with just a single-player campaign.

Except he is going the cod mainstream way , hoping it will sell , while ignoring others (that part at least is true) .

I agree that devs shouldnt cave in to demands and cater to every nitpicks , it's ultimately their game to do . However it is ours to purchase , and in opposite they shouldnt be surprised if their view is deemed to be crap .

Besides they did cave a bit at NT , so i'm chuckling when he and the media try to paint NT as some rebels . The first thing they did after the initial outcry and backlash was toning down Dante's design .

If fact every time we see a new build of the game , dante's design is changing . Of course games and design do evolve over their development . But it's nature and timing here spells "scaredy cat doing damage control" .
