StarHawk: Changing The "Beta" Stage

LightBox has been a great example of how to execute an enjoyable Beta experience. On the current tides of gaming, many games have offered beta's with the goal of improving their online experience. Where most developers have used the beta phase of a games development as a demo, designed to test the load on the servers, the complexity that comes with having a scale that mirrors what’s found in Starhawk, requires much more than a multiplayer demo. (PS3, Starhawk)

I played the public beta a couple weeks ago. Even i don't have headset to comunicate with other people, but i had fun with this game. It's funny but also cool to see how people build those fortress to protect the flag. So i consider to buy it when it released on may.

The beta is frankly awesome.

I cannot wait to play the game at its fullest, with all the upgradable buildings and vehicles, and all the new features, and new maps. There's so many ways each game can play out, it's fantastic.

Anyone else feel like there's a very strong Santo Monica influence when it comes to the engine? I almost feel like there's a strange God of War III feel to it. Anyhow, I feel Starhawk could just be one of the best and defining games of this generation. Such unique and addictive gameplay. Strategic, fun, and great graphics to boot. Awesome design style as well. Just hits the right notes.

They are all pretty much connected. Icognito broke into Santa Monica (as in some of their staff joined SMS), eat.sleep.play and lightbox. When I see twisted metal, starhawk and gow it feels like it was made by the same studio.

Been playing since early last month and it's the most fresh & addictive multiplayer I've played in years. Without good teamwork matches can be frustrating though, ending in a stalemate with 2 heavily fortified bases full of turret building defenders. Fortunately there are clanoptions.

This game is so cool and it's only a few weeks away, it should get more attention & advertisement. I hope reviewers will give it the attention it deserves and not just compare it to more popular, 'individual' shooters. Imo the gameplay is unique and very well balanced, it's kind of rock-paper-scissors, there's no ultimate weapon on the battlefield. A Warhawk general & his hawk can be brought down by a grunt.

Beta ends next tuesday. The last beta I enjoyed this much was for MAG and that game had me addicted for 2 years. MAG is now almost dead though, so Starhawk comes right on time.

Been playing since before the private beta came out. I like how LBI listened to our feedback and pretty much built the multiplayer off of our feedback. Way to go LBI, day one buy for sure.
