From Pixel Apocalypse...
"In my many years as a gamer, and now as someone who writes about games; I’ve never seen a point in time where a fairly significant portion of a games audience was so unhappy with the way a game ended. So much so that it drove them to organize. Not only have Mass Effect 3 fans demanded a new DLC based ending for Mass Effect 3, but now a 20,000 strong petition is circulating around the net as well. It’s crazy to think that we live in a period of time where the way a developer wants to end his story can be completely invalidated. Not only that, but with enough pressure from the audience, that ending can be changed with nothing more than a little DLC..."
Cmon, it's all about the joirney anyway, right? They either had to have all choices leave him alive or dead...not both..Now, i don't actually know all the possible endings, im trying to avoid that, i guess, but i actually like it.
On a side note, i lso like how they were able to skirt the actual fact of impending doom while taking ur time doing quests, though a timed hardcore would have been awesome. As powerful as the reapers are i don't think they swept throigh any cycle in less than a year, unless i am wrong. It takes a while to eradicate trillions of people.
All in all, i think they did a fantastic job. EA may push for a n optional doctor ending, but i hope bioware holds to their guns. If they want to add doctor that fleahes out the characters we love, or what happens post ending, that would be great. I hate doctor that is irrelevant, and doctor that is important after i am done. These could be good possibilities.
THIS is why gamers are treated with disdain by the wider world, people. This right ****ing here.
What? You thought they decided about the ending 2 months before release? They must've decided it even before ME1 went into production
The ending was good...everything cannot be delivered to you on a silver platter
They went with what they felt right...and did a fucking good job with it.
I understand some criticizing, but asking them to change the whole thing is probably an outright slap on the face to the writers who came up with the whole franchise to begin with..
Personally i'm worried about the whole "hallucination ending" part..
yes HOW DARE PEOPLE CRITICIZE SOMETHING THEY BOUGHT
people have legitimate problems with the games ending and all these "professional" site go back on STOP NOT LIKING WHAT I LIKE.
Rogue geth/synthetics wouldn't do that :P
They make it out like everyone hated the ending and that just isn't true. Didn't the game sell over 3 million copies? Yet less than 20k were angry enough to petition or something.
Its a game, we've mostly gotten 100's of hours from them and I'm fine with that.
Not sure why so many people are such crybabies about every little thing. I think this current console generation is just spoiled so much.
Back in the day when I was a kid with my original NES, there was no internet and no way to know which games were good, I'd waste two weeks allowance to rent a game like Ghostbusters for my NES and you wanna know what the ending to that was?
"Conglaturation !!!
You have completed a great game.
And Prooved the justice of our culture.
Now go and rest our heroes!"
Now that was a bad ending. I actually applaud Bioware for now making a Hollywood, happily ever after ending.
