Mass Effect 3 And The Pernicious Myth Of Gamer 'Entitlement'

The gaming industry, and gaming media, is wrong to label upset consumers as ‘entitled’ or ignore the investment of fans beyond simply spending their hard-earned cash. (Mass Effect 3, PC, PS3, Xbox 360)

At this point entitlement is starting to sound like when a game with a story is offered, gamers expect to get a beginning, middle and ending in the same package when they buy a game.

If its true that ME3's is more of a placeholder for coming DLC, that have to buy DLC to get a rewarding ending to ME3, then yes, many gamers are going to go batsh*t crazy under the belief that they were entitled to a full ending.

Nevermind this BS that puts a character with a Prothean skin in your squad.

All I care about is getting my moneys worth out a of purchase. We all know this isn't the end of Mass Effect. What happened to respecting the time and imagination developers put into games? Or the unique experiences that the medium allows? Has it all just become corporate numbers and whiny gamers? Respect what has been accomplished. No one has a gun to your head forcing you to buy more DLC...

Developers need to attract customers with good value in their products not try to train them to accept less.
