Wasteland 2 Kickstarter launched

The Kickstarter page for Wasteland 2, Brian Fargo's sequel to the 1988 post-nuclear classic, has just been launched. Rewards for contributors range from a downloadable version of the game + a bonus item and skill for $15 through a plethora of physical goodies, and up to an invitation to a private party hosted by the developers and a shrine in your name erected within the game for $10,000. (Brian Fargo, Dev, InXile Entertainment, PC, Wasteland 2)

Well, while I understand the concerns given inXile's track record so far, this is also a bit different, since they brought back some of the original creators of Wasteland and Fallout for this project that weren't there for any of inXile's previous ones, and with Hunted a lot was probably up to the publisher, not the dev.

Bethesda published that game.
It's different when you work with a budget constraint and creative restrictions from big publishers.

But, when you give those brilliant people the freedom to create what they want, magic will happen. You can see their brilliance in the simple flash games Line Rider and Fantastic Contraption 1&2.

Plus Hunted was an action game, Wasteland 2 will be a top-down turn-based story driven RPG games. I do hope more people support this. This will be unique to say the least, even if you are not a fan of old RPG's. Gamers cry for innovation from developers all the time, so time for them to put their money where their mouths are.

I love old school rpgs but can this studio still produce a quality title.

@NYC_Gamer

Well, given that quite a few old Wasteland and Fallout devs are back for this project, it's not really the very same studio that gave us Hunted as far as the amount of creative talent is concerned.

This was one of the best RPG's of the 80's and a all time personal favorite. I've played all the top down Fallouts and to me none have ever quite managed to capture the magical hold this game has on me. It just let you go and do pretty much anything you wanted. I will definitely kick a few bucks into the kitty to see someone "explode like a blood sausage" or "rip'd into a scarlet side of meat" again lol.

Thank you for posting this as I would otherwise never have heard about this.

I really miss old school RPG's. Nowadays all we get are crappy FPS's disguised as them.

I've donated $100, but I'm thinking of upping it to $250. $1000 sounds tempting, but it'll probably be too much...

I just donated $100 also. Wish I could afford to donate more.

I'm excited! This really made my Tuesday.
