Why Nintendo is so successful (and will continue to do so in 2008)

Sean Foster of gaming console network writes:

"The Christmas season has come and gone. But I just had a thought while I was surfing the videos over at youtube. The Nintendo Wii has been out for over a year now. Yet it is impossible to still find a system. We have those January pre-order tickets from GameStop (which is a joke if you ask me), and the big department stores like Wal-Mart and Target are still Wii-less."

FF13 and MGS4 ---The biggest games of this era

Chug3312d ago

But people will still be buying the damn thing.

Well most talked about this era at least. I'm sure FFXIII and MGS4 will do their part but to just make everything else stand still is a little to much to hope for. I'm sure we will see a big influx of PS3 purchases but it wouldn't necessarily stop the other consoles from selling.

it will sell well of course but i got a feeling it may do a gamecube due to third party pubs not liking there game sales on the system

The publishers are going to start lining to make games for the Wii, if they haven't already.

If they create really good games, they will sell on the Wii,
Especially you consider the sheer number of prospective buyers that own a Wii.

I think in time, you'll see a whole new generation of Wii games.
Along with games that are considered "shovelware", just like the PS2.
Games for everything, everybody.

In the end, Numbers Talk.

Games like Super Mario, Guitar Hero and Zelda show that Wii is not a gimmick. People aren't getting bored of this thing anytime soon. Things like Wii Zapper, which is just a piece of plastic is sold out everywhere I live. Nintendo is just excellent at creating things that the mass market loves, but will get bored of soon. So, when the Wii Zapper gimmick ends this year, Nintendo will cause a storm with Wii Fit. I used to think Wii was just a fad, but then hit after hit, Nintendo is continuing their dominance in the casual market, and I realized that they're not stopping anytime soon.

It's so big because old people are buying it and little kids want it. No hardcore gamers there at all. The only game I can see that's pretty hardcore to play people against is Super Smash Brothers.

I'm playing Medal of Honor: Heroes 2 on my Wii this weekend. Once upon a time I was considering picking up a 360, but at this point I'm going to buy anything & everything released for the Wii that even remotely catches my eye. That having been said, my Wii library stands at 94 titles as of this past Wednesday & I haven't even had it a year yet. By comparison, my PS2 library stands at 64 titles after 7 years.
