Would be a smart move on the part of Activision.Hmm..and gamers don't hate Call of Duty just the ones on web forums do to be honest.

da_2pacalypse4427d ago

This could be a horrible nightmare -_- With Volition's anti-used game state of mind, and kotick's cheapness, I see bad things happening if this were to happen.

GraveLord4427d ago (Edited 4427d ago )

This can only be good for Saints Row. With Activision's marketing and money, it could be finally be real competition for Grand Theft Auto.

StanSmith4427d ago

I would have thought EA would buy them. Afterall, EA was trying to takeover Take2 to get the GTA franchise.

If Activision get them though, i hope they just let the devs make Saints Row without any interference from Kotick & crew.

Activision aren't all bad. High Moon Studios were given 2 years to develop Transformers: Fall of Cybertron. The Prototype devs have had a few years too.

I'd imagine they wouldn't turn Saints Row into a yearly franchise.

NobleRed4427d ago

Well said. Activision should just release every year a shitty recycled call of duty game.

They better stay away from THQ.

Love Saints Row and I hope Crytek drops a great Homefront 2 game.

CHARLIEBROWNE4427d ago

Oh sweet jebus the cancer of ACTIVISION is spreading.

Amputate immediately.

Yet, ironically EA is the one that has blessed us with expiring online passes and taken DLC to the next level.

I don't see Online Passes in CoD, nor do I see a outfit, squad member and weapons DLC unlike EA.

It's okay to dislike Call of Duty...but to "hate" it is something that I will never understand. People say that COD is limiting innovation because EVERY dev wants their game to be like COD...not the case. Innovative games like Journey, Catherine, and Starhawk are still coming down the pipeline.

As far as the article is concerned, its a good news for Activision...but not good news for gamers. Under THQ, Volition charged people for cheats...yes CHEATS! Imagine what will happen if Volition was in cahoots with Activision.

StanSmith4427d ago

I think the cheats thing is more to do with THQ. The WWE games charge you to unlock everything and to change attributes now too.

gamingdroid4427d ago

@LOGICWINS

***People say that COD is limiting innovation because EVERY dev wants their game to be like COD...***

If the dev wanted their game to be "like" CoD, they didn't have much imagination or creativity to begin with so I don't there is a threat at all.

If it wasn't CoD, the dev would be attempting to copy something else!

dedicatedtogamers4427d ago

*dun dun dun Another one bites the dust*

That would be horrible, if true. Next Dawn of War and Company of Heroes = FPS, confirmed.

I'm glad I have the option to play on PC where independent devs are still able to thrive...

360GamerFG4427d ago

Oh look at me, I support the indie scene without all this commercial corruption!! Whatever hipster, I'll continue playing games to enjoy them and not to make a statement.

CaptainMarvelQ84427d ago (Edited 4427d ago )

i prefer them joining activision(even though they'll milk the shit out of their games) over hundreds of people losing their jobs

Summons754427d ago

oh please any company activision has under there belt makes terrible over priced and low quality games

Software_Lover4427d ago

People need money to survive, but it takes a buttload of money to produce these high graphical games that consumers want. Especially on a regular basis.

Look, to be honest the FTC should just stop.

MS has A/B and nothing has really changed yet...if you are worried about 5-10 years from now...just drop it cause the future is unpredictable.

Take this week's news, that 4 Xbox exclusive are going Multiplatform.

Yeah man I think Microsoft here getting to probe is kinda wrong unless you only have accessed to necessary information not complete access imo.

Abriael77d ago

Obviously they aren't giving them the password to Sony's computers and telling them "help yourself."

Eonjay75d ago

"Microsoft allowed to probe Sony and Ubisoft"

Sounds hot...

ApocalypseShadow76d ago (Edited 76d ago )

Maybe Microsoft should also talk and get help from their "congressional influencers" at The Capital. They had plenty to say on the matter before the acquisition. They are mighty quiet after the purchase went through. Almost as if they had a stake in the matter.

Abriael76d ago

Could you perhaps explain how this is related? I'm honestly curious since you seem to bring it up rather often.

S2Killinit76d ago

He is pointing out how corrupt MS is, and how money talks. I think.

KwietStorm_BLM76d ago

I would say read between the lines but it's pretty damn clear as it is.

Bathyj76d ago

You should be careful upsetting Sony too much Microsoft.
You might need them to sell your subpar games soon.

TornRaptor76d ago

The games will become the best things ever all of a sudden.

Bathyj76d ago

Yeah I really doubt that.
I'm struggling to think of one I really cared about missing.

Hofstaderman76d ago

Bwhahahaha. Ain't that the truth.

Mr_cheese76d ago

The only exclusive im personally interested in from Microsoft is Elderscrolls and that's not even got s release date.

Everything else is genuinely of none interest.

OtterX76d ago

Microsoft never waits for the probing to be consensual.

derek76d ago

This isn't a major victory. They're essentially being allowed to call witnesses in regards to agreements they reached with Sony and Ubisoft which was initially blocked because Microsoft didn't make the request through the proper channels. This case is dead, there is no way the ftc will be allowed to unwind this acquisition.

Sephiroushin76d ago

they probably know case is death but want some proof to sue them for a few millions regarding other stuff, the ftc loves to sue everyone, be sure that as soon as all this end they will just go sue MS and end in a settlement.
