Jordan from PushStartSelect, a proclaimed 'non-fan' of the Assassin's Creed series, muses on why the trailer, and everything else shown for Ubisoft's Assassin's Creed III, has him once again excited for the franchise.
Crazy the amount of coverage this AC game is getting over its previous AC games on N4G. I think maybe to do with the America setting which is why I think Ubisoft took it this way over better suited settings. I personally am not a big fan of the setting. Like I said before I think there would be far better settings than the American Revolution. I am however looking forward to the character (if done correctly and doesn't side with one side) and the weapons. I am more looking forward to see how ubisoft keeps the countryside interesting. The first AC countryside was fairly dull and more of an inconvenience.
everyone is excited because it's an actual sequel. It's americaphobia that most people have for some reason they have no excuse except that they hate america (which is okay i have no problem)
What have we really seen to say its an "actual sequel". I love AC series but the trailer is merely another CGI trailer (not a good one either). It may be a new engine but apart from that we have no idea if the combat has really changed or if the game has really changed. The teaser showed very little except it was set in America during the revolution.
The main ubsisoft team has been working on this since AC2, revelations and brotherhood where made by b team
AC is even overshadowing ME3. That's a shocker.
Im not excited, i aint fallin for there bs AC3 will just be a copy/paste game like all the previous games, i like them dont get me wrong, played them all, platinum trophied 1 or 2 of them, AC3 will end up bein the same game ive played before I dont expect the combat to change, same controls, same kill cam, same inventory thingy, i know how the game will play, where to go, what to climb, when to expect a ledge or platform to fall appart Its like having sex with the same women, its starts of fun, but years 7 years later it starts to get borin, i know what buttons to push DONT fall for Ubisofts hype!
Revelations bored me, Ezio was uninteresting and to FINALLY finish the 2nd game after 3 years was just ridiculous. However, I have a weakness for history and seeing the Revolutionary war (an ear which is rarely done in games) sparked my interest again. Still need to see gameplay and some in game stuff to confirm weather or not I will even bother, hoping so though.
The Assassin's Creed franchise is arguably the best new franchise this gen...maybe second only to Uncharted franchise...Mass Effect is also up there. The point being Ubi has consistently improved on their offering...and Assassin's Creed III looks to be even more improvement.
sigh more patriotic games, ill pass.
