Lots of talk keeps pouring in from GDC about Nintendo's Wii U not really being what the company needs to truly step into next-gen gaming. Does Nintendo need to ditch its current way of doing things to catch up with the rest of the crowd?
And since when has analyst talk been right about nintendo? EVER oh and nobody wants elder scrolls or mass effect.................you see those meta user scores? abysmal ( a point finished later on) And since when is fire emblem casual? is mario casual? or zelda? not really? they cater to the hardcore internet trolling is as bad as its ever been ( point ended)............... like I said before, the 3ds is number 1 in the world. People cant hate it that much
I will say it again. It's the gamers or customers that need to evolve.
They certainly could benefit from adobting some modern trends.
Oh like, downloadable demos, online multiplayer and fully functional online infrastructure? Like what the Wii U will offer? And what the 3DS is slowly beginning to utilize?
Case and point, though don't forget making Region free systems.
They have. Nobody's noticed how they're getting 3rd party support back? Heard about the Nintendo Network? A touchscreen controller seems like an evolution to me.
Lmao. Must be another slow news day over at Zeldainformer. We all know what it is, Troll journalism/analysis. It's not personal. It's similar to an toddler acting out for attention. Instead of informing gamers, these analyst are encouraged/provoked to make rash and stupid comments to get a response. It's truly pathetic because the sites that post garbage like this for hits are equally guilty.
if 'evolution' means a pile of FPS'es, shooters and less platformers and quirky games, then - no thanks..
I believe they did, so it'll create incentive for 3rd party developers to develop for the Wii U.
Just because they don't conform to your ideology, doesn't mean they are the problem. They could be, but I'm just saying that pointing fingers isn't always justified.
Why? Dont younger people than "hardcore gamers" deserve to play games without bullets and arrows to the knee? Dont we deserve the right to play simple and easy games with our non gamer family? Dont we deserve the right to have sex with our non gamer girlfriend after playing an easy to play cooperative game that doesnt require online? Cant people who hate Nintendo just shut up and stop acting like someone is pointing a gun at'em and making buy and play Nintendo games? Just dont buy'em and let others play. Oh, and about the "Nintendo hate": Maybe it's not the point, but it's a kind of valid comparison: Everyone "hate" COD, yet is sells like hotcakes every single year. Everyone "hate" the Wii and 3DS, yet they bot sell like hotcakes. Maybe the buyers are too busy playing games instead of trying to be a pro gamer journalist.
Nintendo are constantly evolving. Just not in the way certain analysts would like.
everything needs to evolve, its only natural. I believe Nintendo who has been through think and thin to continuously evolve.
Imagne if Nintendo had the balls to say there would be no Mario, Zelda, Metroid, or smash bros on the Wii U - that they would devote the platform entirely to new Ninty IP.
Their stock would fall completely out the bottom and heads would roll at nintendo if they did such stupidity... Unlike Nathan Drake or Master Chief, Mario is not just some franchise for nintendo. You people saying that nintendo should shun how much they show Mario is like Disney putting everything related to Mickey on the back burner. Mario is the face of nintendo period! Now should they develop and promote new franchises as well? Absolutely, but its corporate suicide for them to abandon what brought them here. There's a reason why people say the statement, "never forget where you came from!"
I've only seen two anonymous comments (re:WiiU) out of GDC that have negative, and one was from a financial analyst. It's impossible at the consumer level to say anything about the WiiU, because there is barely any information to comment on. We've only seen the controller! So you can love or hate that, fine. But what the graphics will look like are anybody's guess (most developer interviews have only said that it's easy to dev for and port to, but that even they don't know the final specs, yet...), and we barely have a glimpse at the games coming out. In fact, almost all of the confirmed titles are 3rd party hardcore games. While I'm sure we'll see some Mario stuff at E3, the Lego game is currently the only "family" game I can think of that has been confirmed for release. The other games are Darksiders, Arkham City (admittedly a tad late...), Ninja Gaiden, Ghost Recon, Assassin's Creed, and two FPSes (Metro and Killer Freaks...). With Dirt, that's basically a 90% hardcore lineup of launch window games. I'm sure we'll see more family games and party games and sports titles at launch, but what is there to even complain about? There's basically no information out there! It's weird that this article features no actual negative quotes about either the WiiU or 3DS, and nothing from GDC besides a vague mention that developers hate Nintendo... And who is hating on the 3DS, now? It had a rocky start due to lack of software, but has been having a killer 2012, so far. New systems take time to get going, and unfortunately the 3DS took a bit longer than it should have... Anyway, Nintendo has never done what other companies want them to do. Sometimes that bites them in the butt, though most of the time they end up doing quite well. It all comes down to enjoyment of the games, which is one area where Nintendo can always deliver. If you like Nintendo games, and millions of customers around the world do, then a new console means more fun experiences for another few years. And we'll see what happens when the xbox720 comes standard with a tablet controller. Halo fans will call it revolutionary, and the PS4 will scramble to copy its success.
The wii u will be just like the NES and the SNES was back in the days, which means they'll have both casual and hardcore games. Basically, bat if bothe worlds. I remember when I was younger, nintendo still made their casual games and the 3rd party made all the hardcore games. Also peoe have to remember that the wii's hardware wasn't powerful enough to run hardcore games but the upcoming wii u will. Their finally giving us what we want, next gen gfx, 3rd party support, and online gaming. What more do u guys want nintendo to do? At the end of the day no matter what, peoe are gonna hate on nintendo but the fact if the matter is, nintendo is the best and mist innovative company in gaming and neither Sony or Microsoft could put a dent in that. Shigeru is the best game developer in the world. Nobody can make better games than nintendo's first party games period. Letthe sales do all the talking. The wii, 3ds, and ds outsold it's competion so I'd say they are fine and will be okay. I would love and would want to see nintendo go back to it's hardcore days though. They can definately still make their casual games and hardcore games. They'll have the hardware to do so when the wii u drops this year. If nintendo really wanted to, they could put both MS and Sony out of their missery lol.
If it ain't broken don't fix it. Nintendo's hardware and software sells through the roof so they don't have to change their tactics.
Nintendo needs to evolve and Devolve at the same time. They need to be open to Online and stop stupid decisions like no HD and no CD etc etc. However, they need to devolve back to making games that are challenging! I mean WTF with their recent Zelda games? The bosses are made for kids. I remember for the SNES and Ocarina of Time some of those bosses had me work hard. Also, they need to make more risks like they used to and create new game experiences. They need to do fun stuff but not forget about the hardcore gamers who decide if you win or lose the casuals.
Since is when challenge the same thing as fun? Also, easy games on a console primarily meant to be sold to casual gamers. Shocking.
Nintendo really hasn't changed much, which isn't a bad thing because they still make excellent games. So I'm not so sure why people are saying that they use to make hardcore games(they still do). Its the elitist gamers that create this sense of segregation with all of these casual or hardcore labels that they put on games... A game, is a game, is a game people! To me I don't consider that graphics are what determine if a game is casual or not. In many ways I consider Resident Evil :The Mercenaries 3D to be a very casual game. Its one of the many 3ds games that I will take with me and can pick up and play fairly quickly and put down without having to get sucked into the storyline. That's the definition of a casual gaming experience! Games like Pac-Man and Galaga were considered very hardcore games in their time, so why would that change now? Its all about the experience that one gets from the game that they are playing if its deemed casual or not
Nintendo has the info on WiiU so under cover, you would think it was the secret service handling it. speculation on speculation on rumors sure we will get some solid info soon.
