Mass Effect 3 From Ashes DLC: Essential Only For Story Fanatics

"From Ashes," the day one DLC for Mass Effect 3, was a source of controversy before the game's launch. Some players accused BioWare of slicing off a crucial part of the game and selling it as a separate product. Is it crucial, though? Well, not really. (BioWare, Mass Effect 3, PC, PS3, Xbox 360)

That's what makes it so awesome.

They say it's essential if you're in to Mass Effects story, less so if you're just in it for the action.

Tell me... who the hell got in to Mass Effect for the action?

Knowing this contains essential story elements just further pisses me off that it wasn't included with the core game. If it was just a run and gun action sequence I probably wouldn't care as much.

I don't mind DLC that adds 'side quests' that are not connected or have a big part of a games story, but FROM ASHES. I have just played this and the story deeply connects to the main plot of ME3.

Story is the biggest focus with this series and for Bioware to cut out an important part of it, a part that makes you feel more connected, is a shame.

Obviously this was cut out of the core game on purpose.

Shame on you Bioware
