GAME Shifting Console Stock Before Administrators Come In?

GAME and Gamestation are trying to shift as much stock as they have, potentially trying to hold off the administrators as long as they can.

Staff at GAME have confirmed that lots of ‘pre-owned’ consoles are going to be sold on the cheap tomorrow, and this includes discounts on the Xbox 360 Slim and PS3. (Industry)

First thing I thought when I seen this was discount on a Vita! Ill have to check it out. Is this all GAME stores or only in specific regions?

As far as I'm aware, it's all (or at least most) GAME stores.

We've had people from all over the country confirming the sales are going on, just like moegooner88, the first comment on this post.

I'd suggest if it's easy to get to your local GAME store, go check it out tomorrow!

It was always coming. Anyone within the UK could tell this. GAME just totally lost how to price competitively. Once you forget how to do that, online retailers will just rip you to pieces.

Updated the story: Gamestation York staff have said they've been told to put all stock on sale, further price cuts to come in the next few days.

Such a shame, game get 60% of the uks software stock, if they go out if business then that means millions of game sales will be lost and could lead to more studio closures. It's a sad days for the gaming industry.

Think of all the aunties and uncles, all the sisters and the brothers, mothers and fathers that buy games as a present. The majority won't think to buy online which will result in millions of lost sales each year. Either that or they will go to cex and buy second hand so devs will lose out even more now.

I reckon online passes contributed towards this problem, companies like this make their money from used game sales, online passes force the majority to buy new. Devs shot them selves in the foot. Not only do these companies make devs games easily accessable to the general public, but also offer free advertising.

Preowned sales keep these companies in business, I think its the least they are owed for making games as easily accessable as they have. Devs shouldn't of been so greedy.

HMV is alive. No "mothers, and sisters" etc will miss much. HMV is pretty much the same as GAME. (in the sense they both seem to match each other, but forget about anyone else)
