Interview: Jenova Chen talks about Journey

"Game designer Jenova Chen grabbed my attention in a crowded teleconference when I heard him characterize the game Journey as a metaphor for life; you begin without knowing anything, you may or may not meet people to help you along your way, and then we all eventually die." (Dev, Journey, PS3, Tag Invalid, thatgamecompany)

Lovely read, very enlightening. He is a beacon of hope, I really admire that he values the power of evoking emotions through the simplicity of gameplay

He's one of the most underrated indie devs out there. His games are marvelous works of art.

Cloud is still a very touching experience and it's one of the few video games I would love to see as an animated movie.

Funny you should mention Cloud, vortis.

Jenova talked briefly about Cloud during the conference call. He seemed to look at it almost like a learning exercise for emotion in games. The intonation during his brief mention of it almost seemed like there was something about its potential, missed or otherwise, that bugged him. Maybe that's just conjecture on my part.
