I’d been in awe of Saints Row: The Third since I sat down with Volition to check it out at E3 last year, and after some alone time with the game, I came to the conclusion that Saints Row: The Third was nothing short of stellar.
Greg Donovan, Producer at Volition, was kind enough to answer some of my questions (and yours as well, those who tweeted me some). With all the news coming from the Game Developer’s Conference in San Francisco this week, we figured we’ll break for a change of pace with this interview. Enjoy!
Today publisher Deep Silver took to X (formerly Twitter) to follow up on the announcement of the closure of Saints Row developer Volition.
Who knows...maybe we see a remastered SR2 after all and a new studio that makes good SR games again. Still..thanks a ton Volition for the excellent Punisher Video game
We will keep making money off of these by giving them to new teams with zero experience with them.
I'd love another Saints Row game but I can't see it happening after the response to the reboot.
I enjoyed the Saints Row reboot and i hope we see more titles in the franchise.
I'm very happy to know the SR and RF franchises won't die. RF was a revolutionly fps at the time and loved the 4 og SR games.
The developer of Saints Row is closing it doors this week.
Kind of sucks, but to be understood. I feel bad for the talent there who fall due to the decisions of the few and not because they aren't good at what they do.Hope those who deserve it land safely with other teams.
It was a shell since most of the original developers left years ago. They haven't made a good game in 10 years imo.
It still sucks though. R.I.P.
It's a shame for people to loose their jobs but these guys did make fun of gamers for pointing out how bad this looked rather than taking criticism on board.
What the hell were these guys thinking
They didn't just ruin their studio they literally tanked a franchise.
GF365: "We all love experimenting with character creation to make unique protagonists. These are the games with the best character creation systems."
Slightly disappointing game but Wo Long had a good creator. I was impressed by Oblivion back in what 05, 06? But the worst i have ever seen, clearly, Valheim.
Honestly the one I remember being easiest and flexible enough to make any character I imagined was the PS2 WWE games, and Saints Row 2. I did really enjoy Dragons dogmas character creation too
Lol CP 2077 is one of the easiest and less detailed editors around. It's all a mish-mash of presets.
Dual Wielding Penetrators? I would hate to be the one getting hit by those purple behemoths!
My opinion:
SR3 was disappointing. Now...if you haven't played the previous games, you may not feel this way.
But if you have at least played Saints Row 2, then you might be disappointed like me.
The game took a step forward with graphics, but two steps back in regards to the story, missions, and general open world content, which SR2 had PLENTY of...and now they are falling in line with other companies that like to release DLC rip offs.
I am hoping...really hoping they get their act together with SR 4, but I know for a fact I will not buy it day one.
