To Hardcore Gamers: Wii Doesn't Suck

TheParanoidGamer Writes: "As a hardcore gamer that primarily plays Xbox, it’s easy for myself and others to be dismissive of Nintendo’s little white box that could. Motion controlling is usually annoying, the graphics are behind the times, and awesome game series like Assassin’s Creed and Mass Effect don’t come to the system due to it being so far outside the others experience that porting wouldn’t work. However, if you’ve never tried the Wii out because you considered it too kiddy or you were just too busy with your other system you might give it a shot. It could just surprise you." (Industry, PS3, Wii, Xbox 360)

The Wii has plenty of "hardcore" games. Most people just don't do any research to find any.

Be honest - most of you don't click on the Wii tab here at N4G and IGN, and GameTrailers.

Any knowledgeable gamer knows that the Wii has a great library.

I don't. I know the Wii has great games, but the controller and the fact I have an HDTV, just makes me not care... I'm not the only one.
Shok  +   1274d ago
That's fine. As long as you know lol.

You don't have to like a system, just don't be ignorant of it's library, ya know?

Ever heard of the, "Classic Controller Pro" accessory?
I also have the Gamecube playback model, and some Wii games function with Gamcube controller pads (Tatsunoko vs. Capcom, Goldeneye:007)."Monster Hunter Tri" is a core as a game a game could get, and people still are ignoring it.

Even if gamers miss out on the Wii generation, the Wii U will have Wii playback - so you'll have a chance to try out Wii games you've missed out on (imagine playing Wii games directly streamed to the Wii U pad controller, while in bed!? Amazing).

Shame not all the games are compatible with the controller.

I think the problem is that Wii positioned its self as a casual console which meant, in a mainstream sense, people just... forgot that it has a library of core titles.

I disagree.

Theres no such thing as Hardcore games just Hardcore gamers

So Demon's Souls and Angry Birds are the same, in your eyes?

Its sad that an article like this needs to educate the morons.

The wii had a far superior hardcore exclusive library than the gamecube did. Thats for sure

The Nintendo Wii entertainment console has an outstanding amount of hardcore games. The games may not be full of guns, blood, and profanity. But you will have a more difficult and challenging time completing any Zelda, Mario, Metroid, or most other Nintendo in house exclusives then most shooters.

I am personally using shooters because they dominate the playing field on the rival HD consoles.

There are plenty of great full complete hardcore games to be played on the Nintendo Wii console.

;) id knew you'd be in here.
Im actually saving up for a wii but im better off buying it from someones closet for $50.

Also can someone list me off some good wii games like ps3 fanboys like to do.

The Wii has plenty of great games that make it worth it to own the system. I always get a kick out of it when people pair the word "hardcore" with "video games".

These are all just video games, none of them are hardcore, they are for fun and entertainment.

The simple fact is that everyone has their own opinions, most wont agree, so why try to peg a certain game into a definition like hardcore or casual?

I've found that most people use the argument for hardcore or casual only when it suits them for a particular argument.
LX-General-Kaos  +   1274d ago
No there is a difference. A game like zelda Twilight Princess for example is a hardcore game. Something down the lines of Wii music is for casuals. Kinect sports and adventures is for casuals. Dead Space and Bioshock are hardcore on the xbox 360 front.

Better example. If a senior citizen from your family came over to your place what game would he or she likely take a crack at? Kinect Sports, or Unreal Tournament 3?

At the end of the day there is nothing hardcore about any of them. They are video games. That is just the way I feel about it.
krazykombatant  +   1274d ago
at the end of the day a senior citizen would suck at any game given to them... Like IM_Kinected says its just video games at the end of the day.

no game could have me go back to a Wii. The fact that it does not work in HD on my 1500$ tv means no title could bring me back.

Im buying wiiU day one just because i can finally have nintendo in HD. I'll then play all the Wii games i missed if they allow them to be played in HD

Can't wait for Mario Tennis and Mario Kart in HD online <3
Instigator  +   1274d ago
It's simple. If you're a hardcore gamer you don't write off a good game because of something as shallow as aesthetics and appearance.
Xof  +   1274d ago
The only people who consider themselves "hardcore" gamers are about as casual with the medium as you can get.
xJumpManx  +   1274d ago
You have to like first party wii games. I have them but unfortunatly I rarely want to play motion control games so those games usually get played once or twice and then never touched again.
Hicken  +   1274d ago
It may not suck, but it appears to have a less enticing library of core and hardcore games that the other two consoles, at the least. A large part of that is due to the way the Wii is advertised, however, so you can't completely blame hardcore gamers for thinking there's virtually nothing hardcore on the system.
Drabent  +   1274d ago
Hell no they should make the game free and not free only til lv.10 then you have to pay...thats not free.
