I along with many others won't be buying it. I don't see DMC as something that appeals to the mass. Capcom would have been better off doing a fan service by staying true to the franchise. I don't see any younger gamers waiting for this, and I see many older gamers disappointed. This game will bomb, as will NT.
Except its not their game. They're taking an existing franchise and changing the MAIN character. This never works out for anyone, regardless of where the development takes place. You just don't fuck with something or someone fans have come to love, it just doesn't end well.
To be honest I want this to fail not because I dislike what they've done to the series but I just want the guys at Ninja Theory to stop blaming outside their work for why their games don't do well (or the more evil side of me wants to see what excuse they have if this game fails to sell well).
When Heavenly Sword didn't sell well they blamed it all on being exclusive, when Enslaved had a worst time than HS they blamed it being a new IP . Now they're making a reboot of a franchise which is basically them creating something of their own with a name to help it up, if it fails maybe then they'll learn to be more humble.
All in all I have a feeling this will be their best selling title they develop though.

NT has proven to be a silly developer for what concerns PM. They have proven to be unable to have a cool combat system. AND I still have to understand what's cool and groundbreaking in Enslaved story. Story plagiarized by Eastern literature. Gameplay copied from Ico. Hell, both their games didn't even had a jump button.
NT has only Alessandro Taini that has awesome visual skills, between the top 3 in the biz. Nothing else. Period Also Capcom internal Japanese studios could have done wonders with a DEVIL MAY CRY 5.
DmC will not bomb because of the fanbase and their curiosity, but won't be good.

Secondly, even if it is a reboot, hw many reboots u knw off where the character has changed dramatically, the story has changed, the history has changed, the presentation has changed, the theme has changed and the content? Batman, superman, knightrider, ATeam, hell even TMNT have been rebootrd but as films or cartoons, even they havent changed this much.

As far as the topic goes, I personally cannot back off NT for the following reasons:
1) they are selfish 2) they are egotistical 3) they lack respect for anyone but themselves 4) they are adults but they cannot take responsibility and since the start of the generation they have been pointing their finger at others for their shortcomings. 5) they disrespected Kamiya San, the founder and father of Devil May Cry and Dante. 6) they ignor everyone including the fans if it doesnt fit into their agenda 7) they are greedy and dont appreciate anything 8) they try to spin the truth on DMC to help avoid answering questions or concerns fans of DMC have.
A dev that has the above 8 qualities, well for me anyway, cannot be trusted, supported or given a break. NT is like the George Bush of video games:, full of crap, unable to listen to his people, spending money in the wrong places, convincing people all is well when he has just launched turd into a fan.
I will not. Why? It's like Call of Duty suddenly starring ninja battling floating heads... Okay, might not be THAT jarring of a shift. More like GoW going cel-shaded anime with a dubstep OST.
It is not Devil May Cry, why not name this game something else? I will get my HD collection of DMC and pray this one fails, because seeing DMC bastardized in such a way is very sicking to me.

Honestly, game looks great and im loving all the pretty colors. Its just dante people are fussing over. But really think of it this way, do people keep the same hairstyle/color of it all their life? it changes eventually.
A lot of people like to say they won't buy it, but they will. Just like every other "boycott". It's a DMC game regardless if you like it or not. Deal with it.
I think the reboot itself is a good idea. Basing it around their lead designer, was not. I thought dmc 4 was Boring and stale, so im glad they are doing something new, and even interested in seeing what they conjure up storywise.. But unfortunately like someone else mentioned, they seem selfish in their pr, talking down to fans, especially of heavenly sword, which ironically probably got them most of their fans. Fans they've probably lost a lot of over time with their statements.
In regards to the article about why people didn't purchase their new game, I tried the demo to enslaved but I didn't really find it that interesting. I thought heavenly sword was much better :P Still.. I might get it at some point, when I have a functional ps3 again.
wow seeing the general consensus so far, this game looks like its going to sell less than heavenly sword but more than enslaved...which isn't practical at all lol
Im just happy they changed that stupid emo Dante. He was the main reason I never got into the series at all. Really looking forward to this one though, now that they've changed him to look like a normal person from a normal western game.
