Um no. The characters and battle system was extremely boring and generic. The only good thing about the game was the battle theme. It was really amazing. Everything else was just generic.

I don't understand how everyone can go around and love this game but bash ff113. Im srry but the characters were more developed in ff13. The music was really beautiful. "Blinded by light" and in 13-2, "Knight of the goddess" are beautiful songs. Battle system was more active. It was just overall the better game.

"Best" is subjective, it was *awesome*. Because Lost Odyssey was much more old school than 13--it was very much like an old Square Soft RPG in HD. The characters personalities were much better than they were in FF13. Admittedly, the costume designs were a bit ridiculous, but they may have something to do with it being the same character designer from FF12!

All together, if it wasn't for technical issues and this game only being available on Xbox360 where the JRPG market isn't as big, this game could've totally got more success and critical reception that it deserved.

In the back of my deilusional mind, I still pray for Lost Odyssey or Lost Odyssey 2 on PS3.

Are you serious? Honestly, I can't tell if you're joking. I think you're just parroting words you've heard before, without understanding what they mean. "More developed", "more active".. there's no way you actually understand the meaning behinds those words if you've described FFXIII with them.

Lost Odyssey was one of the worst RPGs this gen. Mistwalker just doesn't know how to make good games.

Seriously, Eternal Sonata is way better than Lost Odyssey as well as a lot of other RPGs this gen.

Overall, this gen sucks when it comes to RPGs. Even the low budget JRPGs are looking better than games like FF13.

I agree too. Tales of Vesperia, Eternal Sonata were both better rpg's than Lost Odyssey and even their metacritic scores reflect it.

The music was incredible but the game as a whole was a miss. I actually stopped playing it for about a year and forced myself to finish it. Still has one of the coolest opening cinematics though.

This is still a truly great game, by far the best JRPG on this gen. I have no regrets about investing my time into purchasing the game and look forward to its sequels.

Not many people talk about one of the best ways Kaim came together as a person.... The small stories that all had great points about the people he met, and where he was at times during all those years. Those stories put the frosting on the cake for me. This was the best jrpg this gen. IMO

exactly. The short stories is the bread and butter of LO. Guess people skip those and think the story is crap (i guess gamers don't like to read?). Kaim is probably one of the best character in JRPG thanks to those short stories. Quite a refreshing break from the usual teenage/like protagonist from other JRPGs. Again, you need to read to see that.

No CGI could ever convey a better understanding of your character as much as LO with the short stories.
