The Last Story Review [GamingUnion.net]

GamingUnion: "The Last Story is a game that will be instantly familiar to fans of director Hironobu Sakaguchi and his past work. It has the quirky crew of JRPG tropes, the vivid and exotic fantasy world, and the foreboding title. Granted, it seems somewhat inevitable that any new game from the creator of Final Fantasy will share themes and aesthetics with Square's famous franchise, but that doesn't stop it from being a rather interesting game." (The Last Story, Wii) 8/10

Nice review

Except for this

"The Last Story demonstrates that there is still life and innovation left in the form of the Japanese RPG, despite the constant crowing of naysayers to the contrary."

And since when have naysayers been right about anything?

Any real rpg fan knows the japanese rpg is the only place with life and innovation when you want an rpg

Definitely better than Final Fantasy XIII.

Indeed. The problem is that people will buy that instead of this. :C

Why is this comparison between two fundamentally different RPGs necessary? I don't hear it being compared to Elder Scrolls or Fallout. Hell, I don't even hear it being compared to Disgaea or Atelier.

Why? Because it doesn't make sense to. XIII is nothing like TLS. Just as it's not like any of the other titles I mentioned. Just as they're nothing like each other. And that's not inherently a bad thing.

I swear, the hatred for XIII and XIII-2 is so profound it has a life of its own; it doesn't even make sense how people who've never played either game nonetheless despise both titles.
